The Spaniard deemed it as his side's best performance this season.
ATK sealed their spot in the playoffs of the Indian Super League with a compelling 3-1 win over Odisha FC at the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata on Saturday. After a drab first half, the Kolkata giants roared back in the second, with Roy Krishna scoring a hat-trick in the space of 18 minutes. Manuel Onwu denied them a clean-sheet with his 67th-minute strike, but Antonio Habas’ side moved back to the top of the table. Despite the big win, Habas remains grounded with his approach in the next game and gave a blunt answer on his ambitions. “The targets are same for everyone. My next objective is to face Chennaiyin. After that, the next objective is to play and win against Bengaluru.” [KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] “For us, the more important target is to win the next match. I don’t have to think about AFC Champions League or anything like that. Chennaiyin are a very good team and it’ll be a very difficult game for us," he added. The Spaniard also praised hat-trick hero Krishna for his impact on ATK and hailed his goalscoring commitment. He said, “He’s a very important player for us. He has every skill to score goals and gives his 100%. I’m very happy with his behaviour and commitment to score the way he has been for us this season.” With this playoffs berth, ATK have now qualified for the knockout rounds every time under Antonio Habas. But, the tactician remained humble in stating that it’s never easy to qualify, yet branding his journey with ATK as a 'love story.' “My three seasons with ATK was a love story. We finished in the playoffs whenever I’ve been here." “We had to work hard to fight for the trophy. We're in the way of becoming a big club. But, it’s never easy to qualify for the playoffs. FC Goa, Bengaluru FC, Mumbai City and Chennaiyin are all top quality opponents for us," he added. He stated, "We had to control the timing of our attacks through the match. I think ATK controlled the game completely. The players controlled things with their decision-making. That’s more important for me than other days." “We chose very well, the moment to attack and the moment to defend. Controlled our transitions perfectly and I think this was our best performance in the ISL this year,” Antonio Habas concluded.Latest News
