The Blues had earlier enlisted the Balewadi Stadium in Pune as a backup venue.
Indian Super League champions Bengaluru FC have received a letter granting them consent to conduct their home matches at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in the city according to Sportstar. The approval has been given by the Department of Youth Development and Sports (DYES) Government of Karnataka The decision comes after the club's owners, Jindal Steel Works (JSW) filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court seeking permission to play their home games at the Kanteerava. The owners have requested to avail the facilities for close to 30 days and are ready to pay an amount close to ₹78 lakhs, plus other fees. Although, their first home game on 21st of October is in doubt as the turf is shrinking day-by-day and the window to prepare it is just days away. Although, there has been no official statement from the club on the latest development, it is understood that the BJP-led state government has granted the necessary clearance. There has been an ongoing tussle between the club and the Karnataka Athletics Association, as athletes have claimed that they are not being allowed to use the track and field at the stadium by the Bengaluru management. The association also claims that the stadium was built strictly for track and field purposes. A report on the same is scheduled to be tabled in the HC by the state government on October 14.
