The Spaniard argued his side had better statistics in the game despite the loss.
Jamshedpur FC suffered their third consecutive loss in Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20 after coming out on the wrong side of a 2-0 scoreline against Bengaluru FC at the Sree Kanteerva Stadium on Thursday. A goal in each half by the home side was enough to beat Jamshedpur, who have now gone six matches without a win. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Jamshedpur head coach Antonio Iriondo gave his opinion on the loss. “If you look at the statistics, we had almost 65% of the ball. We created more chances at the opening. Gurpreet (Singh Sandhu) had to make some great saves, as compared to that, our keeper did not have to make that many saves. All the stats are in our favour." [KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] "What mattered is what happened inside the box. They scored the goals, we didn’t. In football, the penalty area is the most important part of the pitch. That’s why we didn’t get the win," added Antonio Iriondo. Having started the season on a strong note, Jamshedpur have faded of late, especially after injuries to their key attackers. Speaking on their poor run of matches, the Spaniard said, “Obviously, it’s a bit more difficult now (with injuries) but we have to have hope. This is a condition every sportsman needs to face." "We must keep working like we have been doing and try to improve. We need to wait to get back our injured players and keep trying and we must have enough will power to fight for the top four.” [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News | Article Continues Below"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS] Jamshedpur recently signed Spanish striker David Grande, who made his debut against Bengaluru. While assessing his new recruit’s performance, Iriondo said, “Well he had a tough game because Bengaluru is a defensive team." "So, it’s quite difficult to create and find chances when the opponent is defending quite deep. He had one chance, but the keeper was very good. It was a good game for him. He played under a difficult situation, but he did create one chance," Antonio Iriondo concluded.Latest News
