       Schembri 90+1'     Kilgallon 90+5'

                                                              Valskis 90+6'

The Marina Machans have done it! and in the most dramatic fashion possible. Three goals in the final seven minutes, with Valskis the hero, it seemed done when Schembri found the back of the net but Hyderabad struck back. But Chennaiyin showed their efforts didn't go in vain and exercised their dominance in the best manner by scoring in the dying moments of the game. A massive boost for the home team as the players rejoice with the fans here in Chennai. What a game!! What a result, what a match!! It also must be said that Chennaiyin totally deserved it for their effort and work-rate. Heartbreak for Hyderabad but it can be accepted that the better team won.  That's it!!! Chennaiyin have their first goals and their first win in the Hero Indian Super League. What a game it has been!!  90+7' GOLAZOOOOO!!! Just when you thought it was one. Valskis makes it 2-1 with a consummate finish past Kamaljit. This is popcorn football at the moment. Chennai has gone crazy, and it has been that sort of a period, these seven minutes. But is this all?  90+5' Hyderabad strike back!! What drama at the Marina Arena as Kilgallon scores the equaliser for the visitors from a corner. It is back to parity.  90+1' FINALLY!!!!!!!FINALLY!!!! The Marina Machans have finally found the back of the net and it is Andre Schembri is the hero as the Chennaiyin fans go crazy. Hyderabad's resistance is finally broken as Chembri unleashes a shot and nestles it brilliantly past Kamaljit. Chennaiyin take the lead, 1-0. How long since we saw this? And who saw it coming at the dying embers of the game. Schembri throws his shirt away and drinks in all the adulation.  89' Somehow it is still 0-0 at the Marina Arena despite numerous attempts from Chennaiyin. as we count down to the dying moments of the game. The referee signals five minutes of added time. 84' Chennaiyin are denied once again at the altar as Chhangte cross agonizingly evades Valskis. The fans have found their voice here in Chennai and the atmosphere is electric as the home team push on. 82' Chennaiyin make their final change bringing on Schembri for Crivellaro 79' Hyderabad make their second change of the game as Shankar Sampingiraj comes on for Rohit Kumar 77' It's been oohs and aahs all evening for the Chennaiyin supporters as their side have been creating plenty of chances. Hyderabad on the other have been happy to defend whatever is being thrown at them. 74' Defending against anything seems to be Hyderabad's mantra today. They are proving impregnable at the moment as Chennai come at them shot-after-shot. 68' Chennaiyin make a double switch as Dragos comes on for Saighani and Germanpreet comes on for Thoi Singh.  66' Tondonba Singh goes down on the pitch clutching his ankle as Hyderabad have a swipe at goal which is easily cleared off. Chennaiyin's left-back is back on his feet. 64' This time Hyderabad comes close with a shot from Marcelinho which deflects off Kaith past Robin Singh who was running in on the far corner. Post this, they also make the first change of the game, Nigam comes on for Da Silva. 63' Chennaiyin are really at their wits end as another shot grazes the bar of a shot from Eli Sabia. What a fine opener that would've been and how much of a boost would it have been for the home team.  61' Da Silva is shown a yellow for a foul on Tondonba Singh. 59' A magnificent save from Kamaljit who forces a save off a sharp hit from Crivellaro. Another corner for Chennaiyin FC. They are having a plethora of chances at the moment. Hyderabad are being smudged in their own half with good pressing from the Marina Machans. 54' Chennaiyin are having everything except the goal they crave so much. This time an unguarded Valskis heads the ball over the goal. Chennaiyin have had agonizing periods in front of goal. But more agonized is Hyderabad coach Phil Brown who is clearly not pleased at the proceedings. 50' Once again!! Chennaiyin are laid bare at the hands of fate. A shot from Thoi grazes the bar on the way and by the looks of it Chennaiyin get a corner. A fine save indeed then from Kamaljit.  47' Thapa is the first player to be booked as he gets the yellow for a foul on Yasir on the left flank. Free-kick to Hyderabad. SECOND HALF IS UNDERWAY!! Can we expect the net to bulge?  Chennaiyin were clearly the better team today and it was evident in their attacking runs but  as ever they did the tough job only to come up short in the end. Phil Brown will certainly have words with his players who clearly have been second to everything today. Hopefully, we get to see a goal in the next half, customarily for the better team. Stay tuned for updates!!  THE REFEREE BLOWS THE WHISTLE FOR THE END OF THE FIRST HALF!! It's 0-0 here in Chennai.  45+1' The announcer puts out an extra minute for the first half. Chennaiyin win a free-kick on the left wing. 43' It's all about the home team at the moment as another attack gets fluffed this time off Thapa who had a weaving run into the Hyderabad box but his low cross is cleared off by Gurtej. 41' After a brief period of defence, Chennaiyin once again hit on the counter but Thoi's attempted cross is deflected out for a corner. 37' Hyderabad are struggling to find their feet against a Chennaiyin side who are looking resolute in defence and are sharp on the counter. 31' Luck is not on Chennaiyin's side at the moment. Just when it almost felt like it was the opening goal of the night but Valskis who was in clear space but his shot is cleared off the line by the Hyderabad defence off a touch from Kamaljit who has been Hyderabad's saviour so far. 28' Hyderabad get a free-kick just outside the Chennaiyin box but Marcelinho puts it just over Kaith's goal. 25' How did he miss that? That should have been 1-0 to Chennaiyin but an unmarked Chhangte somehow manages to botch it up and head clear of goal from a glorious cross from Thoi. It was harder to miss than score though!! 23' Close!!! Chennaiyin come close once again from a clumsy clearance off a cross from Shankar but Vanspaul's shot is stopped well by Kamaljit as Hyderabad clear their lines once again. The home team are knocking on the door and if this is the way it goes, then we might not be very far from witnessing Chennaiyin's first goal this season. 21' Chennaiyin are growing in confidence with each attack and as had been the case have gone close on goal but to no avail. Hyderabad look clearly content defending at the moment but their coach Phil Brown clearly wants them to move on and get to the other side. 16' A great run from Crivellaro and he finds Chhangte on the left, but the diminutive winger is bundled out by Shankar as the ball rolls out for a corner for Chennai. 14' The fans of the Marina Machans are in full voice as their team surges ahead but once again they come up short. But they have been the more incisive of the two teams. 11' Rohit Kumar has the first shot on target but barely challenges Vishal Kaith. It has been Chennaiyin's game so far but they are still looking to find that killer pass. 7' Chennaiyin are making encouraging strides with a good cross from Chhangte causes a problem but Kamlajit gets to it before anyone of Chennaiyin does. 3' Both teams are battling hard for the ball but neither team is able to penetrate each other's defence with passes going awry as they settle into the game. 7:30 PM: It will be the home team who kick us off today as the referee checks out the formalities before the game starts. 7:25 PM: The Marina Machans are in their Royal Blue kits as Hyderabad opt for their yellow away kit. We are moments away from kick-off. 7:23 PM: The coaches of the two teams hug it out as the players prepare to come out of the tunnel onto the pitch for the pre-game pleasantries. This will be followed by the Indian National Anthem. 7:19 PM: We are a few minutes away from the action from Match 23 in the Hero ISL season. Both teams will be battling it out to get the early goal and especially three points from this game which proves to be the ultimate luxury today. 7:11 PM: John Gregory looked completely demoralised and gave cryptic statements about a possibility of resigning the job after a 3-0 loss to rivals Bengaluru FC. But he has since stayed and leads his side today with the hope that the time away due to the international break would herald a turnaround of fortune starting from today's game with a fresh team. 7:03 PM: Hyderabad had a heartbreaking loss last time out at home to Northeast United despite being the better team for the majority of the game. But their dominance of the game will give them confidence to play their same game today. With Marcelinho and Robin Singh playing up front, the men from Biryani land will certainly fancy their chances against a Chennaiyin that is still unable to find its feet and its first win in this season's campaign. 7:00 PM: Chennaiyin would certainly look to find the back of the net given they play against a Hyderabad team who in all fairness have struggled with defensive issues. A showdown between two British managers today calls for plenty of fireworks both on and off the pitch. Half an hour to kick-off. 6:51 PM: The lineups are in for both teams. Both teams have made changes but the biggest one should be the return of Robin Singh whose presence might augur well for the Hyderabad team. Thoi starts for Chennaiyin FC. Chennaiyin FC: Kaith (GK), Goian (C), Eli Sabia, Saighani, Tondonba Singh, Vanspaul, Thapa, Thoi, Chhangte, Valskis, Crivellaro  Substitutes: Singh (GK), Dragos, Jerry, Rahim, Ralte, Schembri, Germanpreet  Odisha FC: Kamaljit (GK)(C), Lopez, Kilgallon, Da Silva, Marcelinho, Gurtej, Stankovic, Kumar, Robin Singh, Poojary, Yasir Substitutes: Kattimani (GK), Panwar, Tavora, Halder, Shankar, Nigam, Ashish Rai 6:48 PM: Chennaiyin have had a nightmare start to this season having taken just a solitary point of their four games so far but more ignominiously, they are the only team yet to find the back of the net this season despite having the second-highest number of shots attempted (47). 6:43 PM: The players from both sides are out on the pitch and are put through their paces as they might have to pick up speed and points to harbour any aspirations of a playoff spot in this season's ISL with the early pace being set by teams like ATK and Bengaluru. 6:40 PM: It's a battle between the two bottom-placed sides in the Hero Indian Super League. Either team is desperate to get three points today and it could reflect in a highly competitive game today.

John Gregory ahead of clash against Hyderabad FC

“Ultimately, at the end of the day, I am responsible for results. It is my responsibility to see that we get enough points on the board. It is my responsibility to see that we get into the playoffs.”

“The two home games that we have had, against Mumbai and ATK, were both games where I thought our performance was very good. We dominated the game in terms of possession and passes, but we got only one point from the two games.”

Phil Brown before facing Chennaiyin FC

It’s a vital game for us. It’s one of them where it’s not a must-win situation, as there’s a long way to go, but it’s one we need to start our season. Chennaiyin are suffering, but we cannot think about that. We have to focus on us and what is important for us. Getting three points against them is crucial for us and it’s vital to get our season properly started with that.”
