The Kerala Blasters head coach also revealed that he felt FC Goa's third goal was an offside.
Saturday night saw Kerala Blasters being defeated by mighty FC Goa side, courtesy to a late goal by Hugo Boumous which ensured the Gaurs three points in a tightly contested encounter. Following the game, Kerala Blasters head coach Eelco Schattorie interacted in the the post-match press conference. The Dutchman was asked whether the performance against FC Goa makes his team hopeful about their playoff qualification chances. “Where do I start? I think the first half was not that good. The goals we gave away, yeah, they have to do with smartness, alertness. The second goal they scored, we let them take a quick free kick. The first goal they scored, we need to use on the side Rakip little bit more of his body to give the ball away etc," he said. There was only one team that played football and it was not Goa, it was us,” Eelco Schattorie added. The Dutch tactician further elaborated, “We come back to 2-2, and in the end I go back to the part I am struggling whole season which is that I want to make some changes that I can’t. I have to put players in positions that they are not playing. But you have to refresh." [KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] "For example, in the right wing Seityasen was coming back from an injury, didn’t train for two weeks. I mean he trained but was not fit, you can see the fitness levels dropped and I have a few positions like that and that makes it difficult," Eelco Schattorie continued. “In the end, I would love to see the 3-2 if it was an offside or not. It could be wrong but I have a feeling that was an offside goal. And I said if the team pressing in the end, I discussed with my assistants, because 2-2 was not good enough. I wanted to go for a win. We were playing with three in the back. In the end, yeah you need to be more aggressive in the back in your marking but also that is quality," the Kerala Blasters boss quipped. [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News | Article Continues Below"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS] “With Goa they have more specific quality in my opinion to finish it. We missed two foreigners. We didn’t even have a foreigner in the bench. They always add that little bit extra and that you miss. But, if anyone dares to say that we didn’t outplay them then he doesn’t understand football,” Eelco Schattorie concluded. Kerala Blasters play their next game against Chennaiyin FC on February 1. They are currently placed in the eighth spot in the league table with 14 points from 14 matches.Latest News
