The Jamshedpur FC head coach also praised Sergio Castel's efforts to return to the pitch on Sunday.
Jamshedpur FC beat Kerala Blasters FC 3-2 at the JRD Tata Sports Complex on Sunday and finally ended their three-match losing streak in the Hero Indian Super League (Hero ISL) 2019-20. Noe Acosta cancelled out Messi Bouli's opener in the first half, but Kerala took back the lead through Bartholomew Ogbeche in the 56th minute. A Sergio Castel penalty and an Ogbeche own goal eventually turned the result in the home side's favour. After the game, Jamshedpur FC head coach Antonio Iriondo spoke in the post-match press conference. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Jamshedpur head coach Antonio Iriondo gave his opinion on the win and said, “We played another good match, but we were a little lucky, especially the last goal, the own goal. The team made a very good effort and we think we deserved the victory. Kerala played a very good match despite being one man down. We have to give credit to them, but we think the victory was rightfully ours.” [KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] The Spaniard spoke about the goals conceded by his team on the night and opined, “I really don’t think we have a defensive problem; it is mostly individual mistakes. One mistake cost us the first goal. If you look at the stats, the goalkeeper didn’t have many shots to save. I think after conceding like that and after losing an important player like Tiri through an injury early on, the way we reacted and got the win is something to be proud of.” One of the biggest highlights of the tie from Jamshedpur’s perspective was the return of Sergio Castel after missing five matches with an injury. The Spaniard was pivotal for the team and helped turn the tide of the game after coming on as a substitute in the 65th minute. With midfielder Piti also set for a return soon, Iriondo was asked if he is expecting some selection woes for the upcoming matches. [KH_RELATED_NEWS title="Related News | Article Continues Below"][/KH_RELATED_NEWS] “We love to have such selection issues. What we do not like is not having players to choose from. Hopefully Castel will be ready for the next match. He made a big effort to be on the pitch today. Maybe Piti will be back too. The team in the offence looks different now and this is a problem we would like to have,” he responded. The Jamshedpur camp also gave an update on Tiri’s injury and revealed, “He’s okay. He doesn’t have a fracture in the ribs, nor is it an internal injury. He is out of pain but will stay in the hospital tonight just to be on the safe side.”Latest News
