The Spaniard also revealed that star striker Sergio Castel will miss the game on Friday.

Ahead of his side’s away trip to Kerala Blasters, Jamshedpur FC head coach Antonio Iriondo interacted with the media in a pre-match press conference. The sides will lock horns at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Sunday evening in an attempt to get back to winning ways, after a recent slump in their league campaign.

On Missing Sergio Castel And Piti

The Spanish tactician began by revealing some bad news that star striker Sergio Castel, who missed the game against Chennaiyin FC, is not fit to play against Kerala Blasters. Added to the injury woes, Piti will also be sidelined against Kerala Blasters.

“Sergio is injured and cannot play. We are playing with 11 players, somebody will be replacing him,” Antonio Iriondo started.

“Maybe, Sergio and Piti were important for the team, maybe if they were in the team, it would be different (for Jamshedpur). We are missing them a bit now,” he admitted.

Kerala Blasters, Jamshedpur’s next opponents began their campaign with a win against ATK, but have slumped to a poor run that has seen them fail to win any of their last six games. Sitting eighth in the league with six points, the southerners’ season has been marred by injuries. As Antonio Iriondo’s side prepare to face Kerala Blasters, the Spaniard has admitted that Eelco Schattorie and Co. have been unlucky this campaign.

“I don’t know how it is going to affect them, but Kerala are a good team. They have be unlucky in the first part of the season due to factors like injuries. They try to play football, they have a good style. In these kinds of short leagues, you don’t have too much time,” Antonio Iriondo concluded.
