There were a few bright displays from the Highlanders’ young players.
NorthEast United and Chennaiyin FC played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the last match of the league phase on a rainy night in Guwahati.
Here are the ratings of the Indian players featuring in the match.
Poirei Soram- 6.0
The NorthEast United goalkeeper had hardly anything to do for most of the match besides the two goals. He could have done much better for the second goal though.
Wayne Vaz- 6.0
His miscommunication with Milan Singh was what led the Highlanders to concede the first goal. Looked unsure at times, but gained confidence as the game progressed.
Ninthoinganba Meetei- 6.5
The winger found himself in a lot of good positions, but failed to deliver from them. It was Ninthoi who won the penalty that led to NEUFC’s first goal on the night.
Milan Singh- 7.5
A brilliant performance from the midfielder, as he played some exquisite passes in the second half to spark his side’s counter-attacks.
Reagan Singh- 6.5
Reagan put yet another great shift in, continuing his excellence in the right-back position. He found himself in some good positions going forward, but failed to capitalize.
Redeem Tlang- 7.0
A good performance from Redeem, looked dangerous every time he had the ball and created a lot of chances going forward.
Nim Dorjee Tamang- 6.5
Looked a little unsure at the start of the game, but grew in confidence later. Made a couple of crucial tackles and interceptions as well.
Rakesh Pradhan- 6.0
Looked solid defensively and went forward at every chance he got. But, there was a clear lack of quality in him while going forward.
The standout performer for NorthEast for the whole season and tonight was no different. The young midfielder dominated the centre of the park and made things happen around him.
Dipu Mirdha- N/A
Came on in injury-time and had no impact on the game.
Karanjit Singh- 7.0
Apart from the two goals in which he could do nothing, the Chennaiyin goalkeeper put in a solid performance
Tondonba Singh- 3.0
The left-back was having a good enough game until he gave away the penalty just before half-time and deservedly got a red card.
Edwin Sydney Vanspaul- 5.5
Playing at right-back, he was often caught out of position by Redeem, but was able to hold his own.
Thoi Singh- 6.0
The winger had to play the second half as a left-back following Tondonba’s red card. He had a hard time trying to defend against Ninthoi.
Anirudh Thapa- 5.5
A disappointing performance from Thapa, especially in the second half after his team went down to 10 men. Saw very little of the ball and did lesser with whatever he got.
Dhanpal Ganesh- 6.0
The midfielder made his physical presence felt in the middle of the park in the first half, but eventually faded away in the second.
Deepak Tangri- 6.0
Put in a solid performance, especially in the second half. Looked calm and provided good support to his defensive partner.
A tame performance from the midfielder, didn’t see much of the ball and looked out of place for most of the match.
Rahim Ali- 6.0
The forward was a spectator for most of the match. In his defence, the service he got was very limited.
Germanpreet Singh- 6.0
Another disappointing performance for yet another Chennaiyin midfielder, as Germanpreet had very little impact in the game against NorthEast United.
Lallianzuala Chhangte- 6.5
Saw very little of the ball in his short time on the pitch, but scored the all-important equalizer
Laldinliana Renthlei- 5.5
Came on to replace Vanspaul at right-back, but could do very little to stop Redeem.
Jerry Lalrinzuala- N/A
Was on the pitch for too short a time to have any impact.
