The Spaniard emphasized that David Williams is also a very important player for the Mariners.
ATK Mohun Bagan got back to winning ways in the Indian Super League (ISL) with a clinical 1-0 win over FC Goa at the Fatorda Stadium. The Mariners completely shut out their opponents and a late penalty from Roy Krishna sealed an important win, which takes ATKMB joint-top with Mumbai City FC in the ISL table.
Antonio Habas was ecstatic that his gameplan worked to perfection to nullify FC Goa’s threat. Speaking about how well his players executed his tactics, he said: “Yes, it was a perfect game. It was a fantastic performance from the team today. The team has earned 10 points for me today. They executed the matchplan absolutely perfectly.”

Krishna has now single-handledly won three games for ATKMB this season. Antonio Habas is delighted to have the clinical Fijian as his striker and showered him with praise, saying: “Everyone knows all the skills and attributes of Roy. He is a fantastic player for us. For me, he’s absolutely the best in the ISL. He’s my player, always gives his 100% and now he’s found his perfect state physically, after not training for a long time before pre-season.”
The Mariners worked really hard to get that win and their high pressing style didn’t allow FC Goa the chance to play their natural game. When asked about his side’s relentless pressing, he said, “Yes, sometimes we deployed one particular player on the pitch to start the pressing and sometimes today we alternated in our pressing style, depending on the opponent player.

“Maybe sometimes the team can revert to a high press style or go with a low press. Today we alternated the pressing style really well,” he also added.
Alongside Roy Krishna, David Williams also put in a tenacious performance and even hit the post in the first half! Habas appreciated his Australian forward’s efforts and said, “Williams is a very important player for us. He was also injured early on and is starting to recover now. We need Williams.”
The Mariners will now face another stern test in the form of Bengaluru FC in their pre-Christmas game. When asked about his thoughts on that match, Habas said, “We have to recover the team and after that we have to start thinking about Bengaluru FC.”
