East Bengal will play desperately against us, says ATK Mohun Bagan's Brad Inman
The midfielder was part of the Brisbane Roar squad in the 2019-20 season, that was coached by current East Bengal boss Robbie Fowler.
ATK Mohun Bagan's new acquisition, Brad Inman faces his former coach Robbie Fowler, in charge of SC East Bengal, in the second match of the Indian Super League. Speaking about it, the 28-year-old said, "Fowler is a good and respected coach. But ninety minutes of the derby he will be my opponent. So I am excited to play in the Kolkata Derby against his team. I am taking mental preparation. I want to defeat his team at any cost and get the three points.”
Despite talking about getting the three points, Brad Inman revealed that he is not willing to take any pressure for the derby. "I played a lot of derbies while playing in England. I know the importance of the derby. I have also heard how passionate the Green Maroon fans are about this match."
“As our club was the champion last time, not only East Bengal, all the teams will play desperately against us. They will start playing with an additional twenty percent motivation. We have to keep that in mind," He added.
There are two new foreigners in the team. One is Tiri and the other is Brad Inman. Tiri has played for the Kolkata team before. As a result, he is the first foreigner to come to India among the seven foreigners registered by Antonio Lopez Habas so far. On the other hand, Brad Inman has played for Newcastle United and Petersburg United previously in his career. After playing in England, he returned to Australia and played in Brisbane Roar in the 2019-20 season.
As they were together at Brisbane Roar, Fowler knows how Brad Inman can be terrifying in the midfield. Could that get him into trouble in the derby? After hearing the question, the midfielder quipped, "I don't think he will get additional benefits. Our team is strong enough and ready. Our coach will make the strategy of the team after judging everything.’’
Despite playing in the A-League, Brad Inman has never played with Roy Krishna or David Williams. He revealed, “I have never played with them anywhere. They have already succeeded playing in India. They made the team champions. Happy to have such a successful teammate like them. I also came to play in India with a challenge. My aim is to be the best wherever I play for the green-maroon jersey. My appeal to the members and supporters is to pray and support us for the whole season. I am ready to give my best to honour the club's traditional jersey."
