The Spaniard spoke on the back of his side's draw against Chennaiyin FC.

“Not disappointed, as I believe, when you can’t win a game it’s better not to lose,” said ATK Mohun Bagan head coach Antonio Lopez Habas in his post-match interaction. He spoke after the Mariners bagged a point against Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League.

Stalemate is better than Checkmate

The game turned out to be a high-intensity affair, as both sides created goalscoring chances, but failed to convert any of them. Asked about his thoughts on today’s result, Antonio Habas said, “Today, the team didn’t perform well and didn’t have a good match, so one point is good enough. Actually, ATK Mohun Bagan are now at the top of the table and most importantly, we end 2020 as table-toppers.”

Manvir best for new system

For the last couple of matches, Manvir Singh has been a regular on Habas’ team-sheet, as the Punjab-born striker has made his way in place of Prabir Das. Quizzed about the absence of Das from the starting XI, the Spanish tactician spoke about the new system he is trying with his team.

He said, “Now, we are making Manvir play in his space, as the team is now playing in a different system in a new formation. Prabir is a very important player for us, but for now we are trying to play in a new style in which Manvir fits better,” he further added. “We cannot expect every player to start every day in the starting XI. So, we are waiting for the right moment to field Prabir.”

Foul play led to lack of creativity

Speaking on the defensive lapses from his team, Antonio Habas said, “Maybe, we were bad in the clearance, as we were losing the ball too much. I think that too many fouls against us in transition was making it impossible for us to progress with the ball and we lacked to create the game.”
