The tactician also elaborated on the change in approach and team selection for the game against ATK Mohun Bagan.
Two-time Indian Super League champions Chennaiyin FC played out their fourth draw of the season against ATK Mohun Bagan on Tuesday. The Marina Machans were plagued by familiar demons, as the forwards failed to convert the numerous chances that came their way, especially in the first half. However, despite his side’s frustrating showing, Chennaiyin head coach Csaba Laszlo was in high spirits as he addressed the media.

Missed chances
Chennaiyin failing to win all three points because of their lack of composure in front of goal has become something of a recurring theme. Yet again, against ATKMB, the Marina Machans were left to rue their missed chances. Csaba Lazslo, however, was encouraged by the regularity with which his side created opportunities.
“It is true that today we had the chance to score two, maybe three goals. This is fantastic. I am confident that we will continue this kind of game, this kind of football. I am also confident that the goals will come and also the players will score.
“Actually, it is the (hardest) to create goal chances. From my side, tactically it was very good. I am very proud of the boys because after two days to play this game is not easy. We changed the shape completely and it worked very well. This is also a step forward.”
Reagan Singh’s return
Reagan Singh returned to the Chennaiyin FC starting lineup against ATK Mohun Bagan. The Indian full-back impressed with his marauding runs up and down the right flank, putting in dangerous crosses and even taking a pop at goal. Csaba Lazslo was full of praise for his defender.
“I have said many times that I am a little sad that I have met Reagan just now because he is a very good player. He also has a very good shot. It is not so often that you see in the Indian league, a right-back making good crosses. We can build up the game from his side. Reagan is a positive player, a positive human and on the pitch, he showed that he deserved to be in the first XI.”

Dropping Deepak Tangri
Deepak Tangri has been a mainstay of Laszlo’s Chennaiyin side, with his versatility allowing him to slot into both midfield or the heart of the defence. However, the Indian youngster was left on the bench against the side from West Bengal. Discussing his decision, the tactician said, “Very hard because it was tactical and not because he played bad.
“Deepak was the player who played every single game and sometimes you need to give the players a little bit of a rest. This was the heaviest decision to make. We were also thinking that Memo was the player who could pass better on the ball. We were also not 100% sure how it would be with (Enes) Sipovic and we needed somebody on the bench.”

Rafael Crivellaro’s injury
Chennaiyin FC captain Rafael Crivellaro was taken off midway through the second half after a suspected ankle injury. The manager provided an update on his fitness.
“We have to see. He twisted his ankle and we have to see how bad it is, but we hope that it is nothing serious. The games are coming very quickly. I have to talk with Rafa, with the doctor. I’m always worried if some player is injured, but I hope that it will be okay," Csaba Laszlo concluded.
