The Spaniard was content with his side's attitude during the game.
Another injury-time equalizer for FC Goa. Another entertainer. Chennaiyin’s Indian Super League playoffs hopes have shrunk to a very minute possibility after Ishan Pandita left it late to secure a point for Juan Ferrando and Co. The youngster’s goal was the 4th this season, all four coming from the bench and all four in match-saving situations.
Never-give-up Mentality
The Gaurs have shown the uncanny ability to not know when to give up. Their unlimited pressure has saved them from tough situations time and again. “The team works hard during all the 90 minutes. When we have the chances, we need to convert. We put pressure throughout the game and it works in the last minute," said Juan Ferrando after the game.
Praise for Ishan Pandita
Ishan Pandita has scored his 4th goal off the bench this season, all four happening at crucial moments during matches. Speaking about his influence, the coach said, “I am happy for him, because when we need a different plan, he goes inside and helps the team. He knows that the team believes in him because Ishan works hard.”
'Dheeraj is the future'
Meanwhile, Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem’s performances have been touch-and-go since his arrival at the club. But Juan Ferrando offers complete support for the youngster’s development. “He's young. In these moments it is necessary to support him. He's the future of Indian goalkeeping. He has talent and is a very good goalkeeper. He needs to improve but it only comes with support. The coaching staff and the club will continue to support him.”
The questionable performances of Dheeraj raise the issue of Mohammad Nawaz. The goalkeeper who featured primarily in the first half of the campaign has been left out of matchday squads since the U-17 World Cup star's arrival and the former will seemingly depart for a new club once the season reaches it’s curtains. “I am thinking about the present and the future of the club. That is with Naveen (Kumar), Shubham (Dhas) and Dheeraj. The future of Nawaz is with a different club. I am happy for what he has done, but it is necessary to do what is best for FC Goa," asserted Juan Ferrando.
Tough Schedule
The tough upcoming schedule should not deter the Gaurs. “This week is very difficult. Three crucial games. Of course, pressure exists. The most important thing is to learn about controlling the emotions, to play football and achieve success at the end of the season,” Juan Ferrando concluded.
