The Scotsman is wary of the threat that his former side can pose on Wednesday.

Coming off a narrow defeat against SC East Bengal, Jamshedpur FC are again in front of a tough test against Chennaiyin FC in their next Indian Super League clash. It is now or never for Owen Coyle and Co. as they look to climb up the points table with a win.

Reflecting on defeat against SC East Bengal

Speaking about the defeat against the Red and Gold, Owen Coyle feels that there were moments where he thought his team could have done better. However, he also added that the Men of Steel deserved something out of the game.

"We are disappointed with the outcome of the last match, knowing that had we won the game, we would be probably two points off the playoffs. So, losing from a goal conceded from set-piece means that you are chasing a game. But, that being said, we should not have lost that match anyway. We came back with 2-1 and then we should have had a penalty and also had 1-2 other chances. Very easily, we could have had something from the game. Now, what we have to do is get back collectively to our very best," Owen Coyle said at the pre-match press conference.

Thoughts on Chennaiyin FC

The Scotsman then emphasized on the next match against his former side Chennaiyin FC and how a win for both sides can take them ahead in the points table. He also feels that Chennaiyin have been very good with their chance creation, but somehow the goals have eluded them.

"We have to win a tough game against Chennaiyin and I think we both know that both teams will be looking to win. Because if they win, the way the games are, it takes you to two points below the other teams. But, we have to keep applying that pressure. We will be doing everything we can to try and win that game.

"I think they are a fantastic team. They're a team whom I know well, they have some wonderful and exciting players. They'll be a very tough team and have shown that they can create a lot of chances. They probably have not been as clinical, but we know they can be very tough opponents," the Scotsman opined.

One game at a time

When questioned whether the team should take the last four matches as knockouts and go for the kill, Owen Coyle added, "We have to look at the next game and we have to get points to try and reduce the deficit. Obviously, teams which are already there have the advantage. It is for us to win games and be in that spot only if its available.

"We have shown what we can do, we have beaten ATKMB with 10 men, held Mumbai with 10 men and beaten Bengaluru. So, we have to start again by beating Chennaiyin and getting those three points. If we do, there will a lot of positives to take forward to the remaining games," he added.

Boris Singh's debut

Lastly, Boris Singh who joined Jamshedpur on deadline day of the January transfer window made his debut for the Men of Steel in the last match against SC East Bengal. The youngster looked lively and the Scottish tactician feels that he can be a player who will take the club forward for years to come.

"I was delighted with young Boris. After only one day's training with the group, he came in and I thought he did really well. He is young, exciting and very fast. These are the kind of players we want to add to our group as we move forward. We want to build this Jamshedpur team for many years to come and young players like Boris will help us do that," Owen Coyle signed off.
