The Chennaiyin FC head coach was left to lament once again about his side's attacking exploits after the stalemate.
Csaba Laszlo sported a rather scornful figure while speaking after his side's goalless draw against East Bengal in the Indian Super League on Monday night. The Romanian would have certainly felt disappointed at his team's inability to unlock the 10-man East Bengal that held on to share the spoils.
Inability to score
The coach particularly lamented his side's lack of end product in the post-match press conference. "We had control of the game, but we did not win the game and this is the problem. Even with 11 men you have to win if you want to go after your dreams," he said.
"It's not also easy to play against 10 men who only want to defend. If you have to win, you have to convert your chances. We created only a few chances, but we didn't convert them and this is a never-ending story. I am disappointed with this and feel we dropped two points again today," Csaba Laszlo added.
Opinion on strikers
The Chennaiyin head coach was asked regarding the Marina Machans' capabilities in front of goal. Csaba Laszlo defended his attackers saying, "I am asked this question every evening after the match, but the players who are in front of goal aren't scoring, then questions are to be asked of them. But, I protect my players, as they have done their best and they will be 100% in the next game. We don't give up and will try again."
East Bengal showed spirit despite being a man down and often pressed high to put pressure on the Chennaiyin midfielders. Speaking on his side being unable to win the midfield battle, the tactician attributed it to the proactive play of the Kolkata giants.
"If you don't have bodies in midfield, then pressing doesn't work with any team. If we had more creativity in midfield, we would've had more possibilities to score," he asserted.
"I think no midfielder today, especially the central midfielders, had a good game. You have days like this and in this case, we have to accept. I don't think we played bad today, but we missed the creativity," he signed off.
