The Englishman spoke ahead of his side's clash against Chennaiyin FC on Monday.
"There's a lot of points to play for and we'll play until it's mathematically impossible for us to reach (top four). But we had plenty of positives and we are determined to win as many games as possible " said SC East Bengal head coach Robbie Fowler ahead of their next game against Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League.
Need to do what needs to be done
Quizzed whether SC East Bengal are still in the race for the title, Robbie Fowler said, "It's five points between ourselves and the team in the fourth place and so we will continue to play games and try to earn as many points as possible. We need to still have the belief that we need to do what needs to be done to reach the spot."
Bright and Steinmann better than any other player in the ISL
"Both of them have done excellent in this club so far. Matti more or less played every game. Same with Bright, he has also played all games. I believe when they are at the top of their game, they are better than any other player in the ISL," he said as he defended Bright Enobakhare and Matti Steinmann who had a poor last game. The Englishman added, "What I will say about the last game is Kerala did make it really hard for us and I respect the team and their players for this massive show. So Bright and Matti just had a bad day against them."
No problem in defence
While asked about the defensive lapses that the Red and Gold faced, Robbie Fowler got a bit annoyed as he told, "I don't think there is any problem. We are a big club and if people want to ask these silly questions, then I think we should also answer silly."
Unbeaten momentum
Speaking about the momentum in the campaign the tactician said, "The morale in this team is absolutely fantastic. We have been unbeaten for the last six games, we are in the league and taking baby steps towards the spot where we really believe we deserve to be and we want to be. We are gonna keep going and we are gonna keep doing what needs to be done to bag points home. So that we can climb up on the table as he seemed quite confident in his plan to face the next game."
Gaikwad's uncertainty
When asked about Raju Gaikwad's injury, Robbie Fowler said, "I am not here to tell who will play and who not. He obviously missed the last game due to a very very last-minute injury so we need to see what happens as I am not here to make things easy for the opposition."
Chennaiyin is threatening
Lastly sharing his thoughts on Chennaiyin, the coach said, "It's a big loss for Chennaiyin to not have (Rafael) Crivellaro but it's a gain for other players to come up and prove their game so they will be equally threatening."
