The Spaniard spoke on the back of his side's draw against ATK Mohun Bagan on Sunday.
In what was a tough affair for both sides, ATK Mohun Bagan and FC Goa played out a grueling stalemate in the Indian Super League. After a goalless 75 minutes, Edu Garcia broke the deadlock with his first goal of the season, before Ishan Pandita gave Juan Ferrando and Co. a share of the spoils.
Takeaways from game
It was an opportunity to grab second place that went missing for the Gaurs and the tactician was unsurprisingly frustrated. “No, I am not satisfied. We want three points always. Today, we had more chances. At the end, a draw is not good enough for us.”
His rock-solid defence was a big plus in Goa’s performance, but one minor blip was all that was needed for ATKMB to capitalize. “The high press was very good. I was bothered by one detail. In transition, we lost the ball and committed a foul. That was a perfect goal from the opposition," said Juan Ferrando.
Igor Angulo's absence
Despite Goa missing several chances to score, top scorer Igor Angulo failed to make an appearance from the bench. “He was ill last week. We have two very close games. For me, it is very important to protect him. It was not injury, but I have to protect him because he is very important for us.”
Ishan Pandita’s timely goal was his second goal in the league. Both were equalizers and both were from set-pieces after he came on from the bench. Calls for starting him have been made and Juan Ferrando expressed his opinion. “He's good in set-pieces.
"He is good in positional attack. He needs to work on a lot of details. The high press, the timing of the press, control the second ball. The most important thing is to help the young players like Devendra (Murgaonkar) and Ishan, step-by-step.”
Dheeraj Moirangthem's arrival
The signing of young goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem has been a positive one for the Gaurs. “He is here. Yesterday, was his first training. I am happy with him. He needs time to know the dressing room, coaching staff and our methodology. But now, I am happy with Naveen (Kumar),” Juan Ferrando concluded.
