The Spaniard spoke ahead of his side's clash against Hyderabad FC on Wednesday.

A fun-fest awaits as Juan Ferrando and Co aim to extend their winning run against a promising and talented Hyderabad FC. The Spaniard along with midfielder Alexander Romario Jesuraj addressed the media ahead of the clash on Wednesday.

Juan Ferrando feels that the best from Goa is yet to come. The Gaurs have shown promising signs and the tactician trusts his players to push themselves to boost the team. “The aim for us is to improve game-by-game. In my opinion we are not up to our peak performance. We need to work like a team. I have a very good squad of players, but we need time. Of course, it is difficult because there are a lot of games but not a lot of training sessions. Then it is necessary to work with pressure because three points becomes a necessity.”

He was also surprised by the resilience shown by their opposition for the upcoming game, Hyderabad FC. “I am not surprised. Before the start of the season, I knew that Hyderabad had very good players. Theirs is a very good squad. In my opinion, Hyderabad, in the future, would improve more. It is necessary to pay attention to them because maybe they might surprise everyone at the end of the season.”

The Manolo Marquez-coached side would be a problematic opposition according to the FC Goa tactician. “Tomorrow would be a difficult game. They are very good in transitions, positional attacks. They try to build. There are lots of details. When you play against other teams, it is necessary to pay attention to 2-3 details. But, against Hyderabad, it is necessary to focus on 6-7 points because they have more options and more ways to play.”

Juan Ferrando has been impressed by Alexander Romario Jesuraj’s work-ethic. He feels that the Tamil Nadu-born youngster still has a lot to give to his team. “There are a lot of positive points. Romario is very good and understands a lot about high press. He is very good in the press. He’s working a lot in defence. When we are in positional attack, he knows where the free space is and he understands timing. My personal target is to continue to work with him to improve because in my opinion, he has a lot of quality and talent and it is necessary to put his talent to help the team.”

A lack of familiarity and a short training period have been detrimental to the coach’s plans to tighten up the backline. However, Juan Ferrando is not overly concerned as long as his team gets the required three points. He feels that with time, the defensive issues would evaporate. “Firstly, I am not worried if we concede three goals as long as we can score four back. We conceded three goals in penalties. It is very important to pay attention to why.”

“In my opinion, it is very important to connect. When we are working on the defensive line, it is important to understand the zones, the space, the timing to attack the ball, who is better in free space, in man-to-man. In this case, we need time. It is also important to change game-by-game depending on the opponent. ATKMB and Bengaluru have success because they have worked together for 2-3 years,” Juan Ferrando concluded.

Meanwhile, Alexander Romario Jesuraj has made himself a well-known figure among FC Goa fans with his exceptional performances. He leads the assist charts for the Gaurs, but puts his team before any personal statistic. “Personally, I am happy. But, in the end, I want to give what the team wants. If the team wins, I am happier if I give an assist,” he stated.
