The Jamshedpur FC head coach also praised Nerijus Valskis and suspended star Alex Lima for their contributions during this campaign.

Jamshedpur FC will be eager to get back to winning ways when they go up against NorthEast United in their next match. Consecutive defeats have pegged them back in the race for the playoffs, but Owen Coyle and his players can get right back with a win.

The Men of Steel had a poor start to their season with a defeat against Chennaiyin FC, but from there on they have proven their mettle with a prolonged undefeated streak. However, after the break, the team have lost two matches.

Are Jamshedpur FC inconsistent?

"We lost the first game against Chennaiyin FC at the start, then we had a fantastic unbeaten run. We had the break and then coming back we have lost twice. We know we have not played as well as we would have liked to, but, we created numerous chances. "

"We have some wonderful players in our team and we have to do our very best. The league also has been similar with teams having little spells, but we have to show the character to bounce back. So, we will have to win this game and it will put us back to where we want to be," he said at the pre-match press conference.

Reflections on last two matches

Speaking about the last two defeats, Owen Coyle highlighted how his team have fallen prey to individual mistakes. However, he also pointed out that they have created chances, irrespective of the way they have played this season.

"I think we have made mistakes and we have been heavily punished for it, both individually and collectively. The Kerala Blasters game we made some individual mistakes and even the other night against FC Goa. They played very well in terms of football, but the chances and the goals they scored came from our mistakes.

"So, that is something we would like to rectify. But, in every game we play, we still create chances. We have an outstanding striker in (Nerijus) Valskis, we have some players who can supply him the ball and do everything else. We have to work hard and take our chances," the Scotsman added.

Thoughts on making changes

When questioned about the changes he will make to his team against NorthEast United, he added, "The games come in very quickly within two days. So, it is all about freshness, we also have Alex Lima suspended, who is a wonderful player. Of course, it is a big blow for us, but we have shown it before that the boys can show character. When top players are missing, the ones that are coming in have to step up."

Opinions on NorthEast United

Owen Coyle feels though the Highlanders are not as fluent with the ball as Mumbai City and Goa, they have different sets of qualities. He also feels that NorthEast United can be very dangerous opponents.

"I think they played very well in the last match and I see them as a very dangerous opponent. Every opponent you play in the league presents different challenges. NorthEast United might not be as fluent passing the ball as Mumbai City or FC Goa, but they have so many other qualities and that's what we have to ready for. We have to be very respectful, as we have always been, but also look to play our game and impose ourselves," Coyle added.

Injuries impacting season

Injuries have been a big concern for the Men of Steel and it has hindered their performance throughout the season. Captain Peter Hartley also hobbled off the pitch in the last match and therefore there are questions about his fitness as well. Speaking about the spirit that his players have shown, Owen Coyle added, "These boys have played through bumps and bruises.

"Alex Lima has at times have taken painkiller injections to play. But, such is the desire to play for the team, Valskis has played every minute to help his teammates. That is the type of characters you need to play for your club. Those boys have given everything for the club, so I am very delighted with the application. What we want is to go out there and get that win for all that hard work."

Amarjit Singh Kiyam & Aniket Jadhav being linked with moves

Lastly, Coyle shared his opinion on how both Amarjit Singh Kiyam and Aniket Jadhav are in his plans for the future. Both the former India U-17 youngsters have been linked with other clubs in the January transfer window.

"I think in any transfer window there will be rumours going around, that is the nature of football, mainly with young Indian players. Both the players are well within our plans and we are delighted to have them here. We are trying to develop and make them better players. That is something we need to do, as we need to improve the Indian players within our squad. Also, both the boys continue to work hard every day for their development," he concluded.
