The 26-year-old is hopeful that the Yellow Army will win their first three points of the season against FC Goa.

“I feel great to play in this club because of the love and support shown by Kerala people and Blasters fans,” said Kerala Blasters goalkeeper Albino Gomes who has so far been terrific under the post. He made a sublime outing against Chennaiyin FC in the last match in the Indian Super League (ISL), saving a penalty kick and earning a crucial point for his side. Khel Now caught up with the 26-year-old in an exclusive chat ahead of their next match against FC Goa.

The Goan local played well against Chennaiyin FC in the last game and was quite impressive under the bar. Though things were a bit nervy initially, he managed to overcome the odds. Telling about the motivation behind it Albino Gomes said, “I was confident from the beginning only. But in the first half, I made some bad decisions and later I focused more to make better decisions and play it safer.”

Defensively, Blasters have shown a strong performance so far this season with Costa Nhamoinesu and Bakary Kone being the pillars. Albino Gomes also thinks the duo is one of the reasons that made him perform better. He said, “They have been solid in all matches that we have played. I think they give me more confidence to play and hopefully, we will do better in the upcoming matches."

“We are really working hard to get our first victory of the season and hopefully, it will come in the next match,” he added while throwing light on the mood in the dressing room ahead of their clash against FC Goa. Incidentally, Blasters are still starving for a win this season as they have drawn twice and lost once in the last three matches.

However, the team seems well-motivated and determined with their season goals as Albino Gomes said, “We expect to get as many points as we can so that we can go through to the playoffs and achieve our dreams to get the trophy,” as he signed off.
