The SC East Bengal head coach also felt that his players lacked focus at times during the game against the Blues.

SC East Bengal's winless run in the Indian Super League continued on Tuesday night as they were defeated by Bengaluru FC in Goa. The defeat marks their fifth game without a win since January 9, when coincidentally their last victory came against the same Bengaluru FC in the league. Following the game, SC East Bengal head coach Robbie Fowler spoke in the post-match press conference, talking about the defeat against the Blues.

Worst performance of the season?

"It was very disappointing. Bengaluru really made it difficult for us," Fowler began. "They blocked all our paths to the goal and for me, it was our worst performance of the year," he continued.

Opportunity Lost

Robbie Fowler was asked whether it was pressure to which the Red & Gold Brigade succumbed to, to which he responded positively.

"We were two goals down before the break so it was always pressure to get back into the game," he asserted. "Obviously, we tried with few things but it didn't really click for us. Lots of our players got the opportunity but couldn't take it. We will keep going on as we always do," he added.

Thoughts on Bengaluru FC

The Englishman praised Bengaluru FC as he revealed that the Blues deserves all the credit in the win. "I am let down by the results. I credit Bengaluru a lot, they played positive and came up with all their strength. We tried to get back in the game but most of our players were not at the top of their game."

"Things became quite tight in the pitch for them to make a comeback and at times, we lacked the focus," Robbie Fowler continued.

Playoff hopes still on?

SC East Bengal are now at a stage where it's almost impossible to make it into the playoffs as they have just 13 points from 15 matches. Speaking about it, Robbie Fowler remarked, "Mathematically it's still on. The next game (against Jamshedpur FC) is massively important for us. The target is still to keep fighting and that's what we are going to do in the next match," he signed off.
