The Mariners have now extended their unbeaten run to 10 games.
ATK Mohun Bagan leaped into the second position in the Indian Super League (ISL) table with a commendable 3-1 win over NorthEast United on Saturday. Despite being satisfied with the win, Juan Ferrando still has his focus on the six remaining league games for ATKMB.
Thoughts on win
He said after the win, “My feeling is that we have six games in front of us. Our feeling is immediately to think about the next game. To be honest, the coaching staff and players are ready for the next match. We have two days to recover and it’s very important to focus on the future, rather than think about tonight.”
Liston Colaco's form
When asked about what he’s told Liston Colaco to inspire his sublime recent form, the Spaniard revealed, “The conversation with all the players is the same. We are talking about tactical points and where it’s necessary to improve in some details and tactics. It’s important because it’s a different style and different methodology.
“For me, it’s most important that the players try to understand the concept about transitions and finding spaces. It’s not so easy, but I’m happy because the coaching staff and players want to work on it – which is most important,” he added.

Sandesh Jhingan made his much-awaited comeback in the ISL, playing in the second half. Speaking about the centre-back, Juan Ferrando reflected, “I’m happy because we decided to give him 45 minutes and we’ll see his feelings.
"He’s been working with the physios for weeks every day now to be ready for training, be it morning or night. His mentality is great. He’s amazing, he’s like a Superman! To be honest, for the entire coaching staff, it’s a pleasure that he played 45 minutes because we are in a good way. In the end, the most important is that he can help the team!”

Update on Carl McHugh & Hugo Boumous
Finally, giving an update on the fitness of Carl McHugh and Hugo Boumous, who both missed the game, Ferrando explained, “For me, they’re very important players. Carl, Hugo, (David) Williams or Roy (Krishna) – all the players are very important for me. But, for me, the most important is to think about the squad.
“Of course, I’m upset that Hugo is not here, but we have Joni Kauko. If Joni is not ready, we have Abhishek (Suryavanshi). If Carl is here, it’s perfect for me because he’s like my coach on the pitch. When he isn’t ready, we can use Lenny (Rodrigues) and (Deepak) Tangri. Of course, I’m happy because I have the chances to do that – but sometimes it’s necessary to change certain details or plans,” he finished.
