Indian Super League (ISL) outfit Bengaluru FC are all set to sign Brazilian centre-back Alan Costa on a two-year loan deal from Brazilian Serie B club Avai FC, according to journalist Rodrigo Faraco and Brazilian media NSC Total.

The 30-year-old began his football career at Associacao Ferroviaria de Espartos, followed by stints at Sport Club Internacional, Esporte Clube Vitoria, Coritiba FC and Centro Sportivo Alagoano. He signed for his current club Avai FC last summer and has made seven Brazilian Serie B appearances this season. Interestingly, Alan Costa scored his first goal of the season earlier today, netting his team's second in a 3-1 win against Londrina Esporte Clube.

Bengaluru FC's pre-season preparations

After a lowly seventh-placed finish in ISL 2020-21, Bengaluru FC are understandably keen to turn their fortunes around in the forthcoming season. They recently parted ways with defender Juanan, who is now in talks with Hyderabad FC ahead of a potential move.

Under Marco Pezzaiuoli, the Blues will face their first set of challenges in the AFC Cup, where they will initially take on Club Eagles in a playoff. Winning that game will take them to the group stages, where they will lock horns with ATK Mohun Bagan, Bangladesh club Bashundhara Kings and Maldives-based Maziya S&RC.

Bengaluru FC have already signed a few domestic players ahead of the 2021-22 season. As reported by Khel Now earlier, Bidyashagar Singh will join the Karnataka club, while Rohit Kumar's signing has already been announced.

In addition, the side have also extended the contracts of skipper Sunil Chhetri and midfielder Suresh Singh Wangjam, who will now remain with them until 2023 and 2024 respectively.
