Bengaluru FC vs Mumabi City: Building up
A win for Bengaluru FC would be a major confidence boost considering their campaign so far. Meanwhile, a win for the Islanders would reinstate hope to defend their title – especially after their opening day defeat against Hyderabad FC.
The Blues started their season with a dominant win against NorthEast United. However, they lost their second game against Odisha FC. Following the loss, they drew against league rivals Kerala Blasters after Ashique Kuruniyan netted goals at both ends. Regardless, their campaign still remains challenging, especially considering the nature of the goals conceded in their last two games. This is further reinforced by their head coach who’s spoken of individual blunders as reasons for such inconsistencies.
On the other hand, while there were speculations of Mumbai City being unable to hit top gear after the Hyderabad FC loss, they simply proved otherwise – against Antonio Habas’ ATK Mohun Bagan on Wednesday. To put it bluntly, they were outstanding in all aspects — goal-scoring, build-up play and ball control, they outsmarted the Mariners straightaway.
As a result, both teams have their own agendas. That is, another win for Des Buckingham’s Mumbai City, and steadying the ship for Marco Pezzaiuoli.
