This was the Blues' first win after first win after seven games.

Bengaluru FC snapped a seven-game winless run to record a 4-2 victory against Chennaiyin FC in the Hero Indian Super League at the Tilak Maidan Stadium on Thursday.

Mirlan Murzaev (4th) helped Chennaiyin take the lead before Bengaluru FC scored twice through Cleiton Silva (39th P) and Alan Costa (43rd), albeit riding a bit of luck.

Rahim Ali (49th) got Chennaiyin level but Udanta Singh (70th) and Pratik Chowdhary (74th) ensured the wretched run of Bengaluru FC came to an end as they moved to eighth in the points table from 10th with nine points from the same number of games. Chennaiyin remained on sixth place from eight games having 11 points.

Chennaiyin FC  (By Kaushik Viswanath)

Vishal Kaith- 4.0

Had a nightmare outing and was poor once again in his decision-making. Made two errors which led to two out of Bengaluru FC’s four on the night.

Reagan Singh- 7.0

Worked hard once again for Chennaiyin FC on the night. Completed five crosses and 74% of his passes. Also made one clearance.

Slavko Damjanovic- 7.0

Had another solid outing in defence. Finished 82% of his passes and made six clearances along with a tackle and interception respectively.

Narayan Das- 7.0

Had the third-highest number of touches by any CFC player on the night. Finished 76% of his passes and made five clearances and two interceptions.

Jerry Lalrinzuala- 6.5

He conceded the penalty for the equalizer for Bengaluru FC under somewhat contentious circumstances. But otherwise, Jerry had a solid game yet again. Had the most touches of any CFC player on the night.

Made two successful tackles, three clearances and one interception. Also created a chance and completed four crosses. He also completed the second-most number of passes (31) by a CFC player on the night.

Ariel Borysiuk- 6.5

Came off early in the first half due to a pulled groin. Managed his defence well with one successful tackle, one clearance, and one interception respectively.

Vladimir Koman- 6.0

He wasn’t at his influential best on the night. Completed 74% of his passes and had only two interceptions to show to his name on the night.

Anirudh Thapa- 6.5

The skipper tried his best to influence his team both on and off the ball. He gave a good account of himself. Completed 77% of his passes, won all his tackles (3 out of 3), made one clearance and four successful interceptions.

Germanpreet Singh- 7.0

Assisted the opening goal for Mirlan Murzaev with a delightful long ball early in the game. Had a decent game, creating two chances and making one clearance. Finished 71% of his passes as well. He was taken off in the 56th minute for Edwin Vanspaul.

Mirlan Murzaev- 7.5

Was Chennaiyin FC’s best player on the night. Created a lot of openings for the Marina Machans and looked threatening whenever he was on the ball.

Completed most of his take-ons and also made two crosses. Created one chance and completed 70% of his passes.

Rahim Ali- 7.5

Showed sparkles of quality but spurned a few good chances in the first half. Luck smiled on him though, as he scored early in the second half to bring Chennaiyin FC level.

Had a good game before being taken off in the 67th minute. He had three shots on target, created one chance, won two tackles and made one clearance.

Substitutes

Lallianzuala Chhangte- 5.6

Was brought in the 67th minute to hasten the pace of the game for Chennaiyin FC. But, he couldn’t influence the game a lot for the Marina Machans. Created a solitary chance, won a solitary tackle and completed five passes at an accuracy of 67%.

Edwin Vanspaul- 5.0

Came on in the 56th minute for Germanpreet. Once again was wasteful in a few attempts on goal. 78% pass completion and one tackle won capped a lacklustre night for the midfielder.

Lukasz Gikiewicz- 4.0

Came on early in the first half in place of Ariel Borysiuk. Once again didn’t have a lot to do in the game. Tried to play on the shoulder of the defenders and hassle them, but didn’t end up bothering a lot. Once again didn’t register a shot on goal, despite being on the pitch for 48 minutes. A disappointing night indeed!

Bengaluru FC (By Ujyant Ramesh)

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu- 5.0

Initially made some saves (3) in the first half. However, a butterfingers moment led to Rahim Ali's equalizer in the 49th minute.

Ajith Kumar- 5.5

Played only 25 minutes and was substituted early on by Udanta Singh.

Alan Costa- 7.0

Didn't mark and position himself well while Mirlan Murzaev scored the opener. However, he redeemed himself in attack with a header in the 44th minute.

Parag Shrivas- 5.5

Missed a chance from Cleiton's corner in the 19th minute. While in terms of the first goal, Mirlan Murzaev cut in past Parag and he could do virtually nothing to stop the run.

Naorem Roshan Singh- 7.0

Returned from suspension this game as left-back. Was on set-piece duty alongside Cleiton Silva and setup the sixth goal with his corner. Also made six recoveries and won five duels; highest amongst the Blues' defensive line.

Jayesh Rane- 5.5

Returned to the starting XI. However, he felt like the least impactful midfielder for the Blues tonight. Had only 31 touches throughout the game and was later substituted by Danish Farooq in the 65th minute.

Bruno Ramires- 7.0

Assisted the sixth goal of the night from Roshan's corner for Pratik to hit it into the back of the net — in the 74th minute.

Suresh Wangjam- 7.5

Was the best man in Bengaluru FC's midfield. Had the most touches and highest passing accuracy amongst his midfield peers. Was smart and clean with his distribution, had some impressive close touches and setup some fast breaks.

Prince Ibara- 6.0

Tried his luck with a header in the 25th minute. However, he was denied by a brilliant Vishal Kaith save. Not really his best game otherwise, apart from this one shot that was on target.

Ashique Kuruniyan- 5.5

Moved up front on the left flank with Roshan's return after suspension. Wasn't really as impactful as the game against ATK Mohun Bagan when he debuted as a left forward. Also lost possession the most number of times (3).

Cleiton Silva- 7.5

Equalized from the spot by calmly slotting the ball past Vishal Kaith in the 40th minute. Also assisted the second goal with his usual set-piece abilities — with Alan Costa converting it into the back of the net.

Came on in place of Ajith Kumar as an early substitute in the 25th minute. Scored the fifth goal in the 70th minute.

Sunil Chhetri- 6.5

Came on in the 65th minute for Prince Ibara. Setup the third goal from a good pass from the left towards Danish, who passed it to Udanta further for him to score.

Pratik Chaudhari- 7.0

Another 65th minute substitution who came on in place of Ashique Kuruniyan. Scored the sixth and final goal of the night from Bruno Ramires' ball — by sublimely slotting it past Vishal Kaith in the 74th minute.

Danish Farooq- 6.5

Assisted Udanta's goal in the 70th minute.

Rohit Kumar - N/A

Came on as an 82nd minute substitution in place of Bruno Ramires.
