The head coach shared an update on Deshorn Brown and Rochharzela's injuries.
NorthEast United played out a 1-1 draw against FC Goa at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim. Khalid Jamil's side took the lead from their captain Hernan Santana’s free-kick in the second minute. But, then it was a repeat telecast of their past performances from the first half of the season. They gave away the ball many times, which result in an equalizer for FC Goa just before half-time.
The Gaurs looked dominant for most parts of the game, but it was a tale of missed and unfinished chances for them. FC Goa had a goal ruled out due to poor refereeing and same was the case for NorthEast United at the other end. It ended even-stevens in the battle of two Indian coaches, looking to change the fortunes of their respective sides.
After the match, NorthEast United head coach Khalid Jamil addressed the media and here’s what he said:

Fair Result?
NorthEast United took an early lead through Hernan Santana, but lost their lead just before half-time. Khalid felt it was a fair result considering the big absentees for FC goa.
“Yes, looking at the situation, I think it’s a fair result. But, three points would have been much better for us, as we’re looking to go up (in the table). They also missed some players and were not defensively upto mark, as they missed their foreigners,” asserted Jamil.

Defence
The Highlanders’ backline had a much better outing in contrast to their last three fixtures. They conceded just one goal and looked good for most parts of the game. Khalid Jamil agreed that his side were good defensively and said that everyone did a good job.
“They played good and everybody tried. (Provat) Lakra and Gurjinder (Kumar) did a good job, especially Gurjinder came after a long time and did a good job. (Patrick) Flottman and Mashoor (Shereef) also did a good job. Overall, defensively we played good and we must continue with the same rhythm,” he explained.
Winless Run
The Highlanders have tasted victory just once in their last four games. The head coach stressed upon the importance of hard work and concentration in order to script a comeback.
“We just need to concentrate, keep working hard and results will come,” he remarked.

Injury Update
Deshorn Brown and Roccharzela took serious knocks in the second half and had to be taken off. Sharing an update on the duo, Khalid said, “Chhara got a serious shoulder injury and I hope he can recover. About Brown, we’ll speak with the doctor and see what happens.”
New Signings
The Highlanders have roped in an attacking overseas duo in Marcelinho and Marco Sahanek. Sharing his thoughts on the duo, Khalid said that he needs them as soon as possible due to the increasing injury concerns.
“They must come soon because we need them as we always have injury problems. They are experienced players and will play a major role for us. It will be good for us,” he signed off.
