The tactician had words of praise for their upcoming opponents.
Hyderabad FC will be up against Bengaluru FC in their next Indian Super League 2021-22 fixture. The Nizams have only one win in their first three games of the campaign and will come up against a team struggling for form. The Blues are without a win in the last three matches, after winning their season opener.
Manolo Marquez was impressed by his team’s performance against reigning champions Mumbai City. However, a draw against Jamshedpur FC in the next match came as a disappointment. He indicated that it was one of the most disappointing performances by his team since he has been the head coach.
The Spaniard interacted with the media ahead of the crucial clash with BFC. He spoke about finding consistency, praised the Blues and touched upon other important topics of discussion:

Breakneck competition
Manolo Marquez believes that every team is struggling for consistency, while talking about the mixed bag of results for HFC in the first three games. He said, “It’s a very equal competition. We are the only team to beat Mumbai, but they won 5-1 against ATK (Mohun Bagan). There are a lot of changes in the results because the teams are very strong. I think that a lot of teams need consistency.”
Positives from draw against Jamshedpur FC
The tactician mentioned the way in which his team are responding to going behind against bigger teams. “The positive thing is the reaction of the team in the second half. When you play a very good first half and don’t play the second half at the same level, usually you finish the game angry.” Marquez said suggesting the positive signs in the way his team are responding to pressure.
Praise for opponents
Despite dwindling form, Manolo Marquez acknowledges the quality in Bengaluru FC’s team. While talking about the upcoming opponents and how tough the challenge would be, he said, “Very difficult. They have some big names in Indian football and some young players that will be important in the future. I like the playing style of Bengaluru FC. It’s very nice for the spectators. Their coach is very brave, they attack with a lot of players and I think it will be an interesting game for sure.

“They attack with a lot of players, play 4-3-3, with two left and right midfielders who arrive continuously into the box with three very dangerous players in attack. They are very dangerous in their strategy and its your work to know about your opponent. I did not speak with Juanan about the coach or about Bengaluru FC,” the tactician responded in regards to if Juanan gave any insights from his time at BFC.
Results over performance
Manolo Marquez clearly indicated that he prefers results over good performance. This is particularly important as the Nizams lost their opening tie to CFC, despite dominating the game. He said, “Results (over performance), I’m not stupid.
"But, for me to get results, you need to play one style and whatever the style, we have to play it to win the game. We have a team to keep the ball, to control the situations, but of course, most important is to win.”
