The head coach shared this thoughts on the game and the absence of key players.
The pressure is gradually growing on NorthEast United coach Khalid Jamil after yet another defeat in ISL 2021-22. The Highlanders were thumped 5-1 by Hydrabad FC on the night, leaving them with four defeats in six games. NorthEast were outplayed and out-muscled by Hyderabad. It’s safe to say that they were the second best team and didn’t deserve anything out of this game. They looked poor in every part of the pitch and were therefore penalized by the Nizams.
They are one point away from hitting the wooden spoon and it doesn’t look any good going further into the season. Things have taken a downward slope and we are not even halfway through the campaign. Post the defeat, NorthEast United’s head coach Khalid Jamil addressed the media.
Thoughts on the game
The Highlanders were made to feel humiliated by the Nizams. They were torn to shreds by Hyderabad FC in a 5-1 defeat. Khalid said that his team tried, but sometimes it happens in football and no one can be blamed.
“Everybody tried hard, but sometimes it happens in football. I don’t want to blame anybody, they worked very hard and we’ve to think about the next game,” said the head coach.
Update on Deshorn Brown & Khassa Camara
Two of Khalid Jamil’s most prized assets Deshorn Brown and Khassa Camara didn’t make it to the matchday squad against Hyderabad. The 44-year-old said that both players are nursing injuries.
“Obviously because of injury they didn’t play,” he said.

What went wrong?
NorthEast United pulled a goal back just before the break and came out as a completely different unit in the second half. But, they couldn’t keep up their momentum for too long, which resulted in three second half goals. “We gifted them silly goals in the last 10 mins. After that, they scored the third and then the fourth goal and everybody went down,” he explained.
How to turn this around?
The Highlanders are experiencing a bizarre start to their ISL campaign. They’ve won and drawn one each and lost four so far. When asked about how he will turn this around, Khalid said, “We lost four games, that is true. But, we must forget that and focus on the next game.”
