Manolo Marquez warns Hyderabad FC are difficult to beat

The Spaniard also felt that if the Nizams perform well, scoring many goals are possible for them.

Hyderabad FC secured its fourth win of the season after a 6-1 victory against Odisha FC in the Indian Super League on Tuesday night. The result elevated the Nizams to the second place in the standings. Manolo Marquez’s side looked superior in every department and their command over the game reflects in the scoreline.

Manolo Marquez looked visibly happy following the massive win. While speaking to the press in the post-match interaction, the Spaniard expressed satisfaction in regards to performances by key players. He also revealed that he expects the upcoming game against ATK Mohun Bagan will be a positive game for his side. 

Need to stay positive

The tactician revealed that his message to the team at half time was to continue looking for goals. As it happens, the Hyderabad FC players did just that and scored four times in the second half.

“We knew that in the second half (with) 2-1, Odisha had very dangerous players on the pitch. The main aim was to score the third goal, and not defend all the time. Play with our style and I think that third and the fourth practically finished the game,” he began.

Difficult to beat

Marquez is keeping his feet on the ground and not letting big victories like these make the outfit complacent. Suggesting his team is not easy to beat regardless of the performance, the head coach said, “This competition is very equal, in the last seven games, five were draws. It’s a very equal competition, the only thing I can tell is that we will continue in this line.

"We are a team that if we play good, these kinds of scores are possible. Even if we don’t play good, we are difficult to beat. I think a good quality in the team is that we are difficult to beat,” he continued.

Satisfied with key players

Overseas stars Bartholomew Ogbeche and Edu Garcia both shone against Odisha FC on Tuesday night. Speaking in regards to the foreign pair, he said, “They are important but they can score if the other players work. I am very satisfied with these two players. If you ask me which is the thing I am most satisfied with, (it) is the first game of Mark Zothanpuia.”

On the game against ATK Mohun Bagan

Hyderabad FC face league giants ATK Mohun Bagan in their next game and Manolo Marquez acknowledged their quality.

“They are a very good team, but we will have our options to win. We have some days to rest and recover before playing this. It will be a good game because Juan Ferrando’s teams try to play good football,” he concluded.
