The Nizams edged the Blues with a narrow win to rise up to third in the league standings.

Hyderabad FC beat Bengaluru FC 1-0 to register their first victory against the Blues in the Indian Super League. Manolo Marquez's men defended their one-goal advantage valiantly and collected an important three points. Marco Pezzaiuoli will be a worried man, as his team have now succumbed to a third defeat in their first five games of the season.

There were some noteworthy individual performances from each side. While Hyderabad FC had several players delivering a great collective defensive front, Bengaluru's team was very underwhelming, to say the least. This is the Blues' worst start to an ISL campaign as they sit in ninth with four points in five games, while Hyderabad have moved to third and are just two points far from the top spot.

Looking at the game and the best performers, here are the player ratings from the Hyderabad FC Vs Bengaluru FC match:

Hyderabad FC ( by Waseem Zaidi )

Laxmikant Kattimani (GK)- 6.5

The custodian made some crucial saves to keep his team’s one-goal advantage intact. He made three saves to record Hyderabad's first clean-sheet of the season.

Asish Rai- 7.5

Asish Rai carried his form into this game and was a tireless worker throughout the match. The right-back made four tackles, six blocks and three clearances, which helped the team keep the Blues silent.

Chinglensana Singh- 6.5

Chinglensana Singh is emerging as one of the best Indian centre-backs in the league. He was very composed on the ball and his partnership with Juanan is developing with each game. The defender made two tackles, six clearances and three interceptions.

Juanan- 8.0

The Spaniard was absolutely crucial at the back for the Nizams. He was absolutely all over the BFC forwards and did not give any room to them. A massive nine clearances was a highlight from the centre-back.

Akash Mishra- 7.5

Akash Mishra also continued to impress and delivered an impressive performance. His darting run down the left flank led to the goal and gave him an important assist. Mishra’s defensive work was also commendable.

Souvik Chakrabarti- 7.5

Souvik Chakrabarti was chosen as the best player of the match and the accolade was completely justified. He came into the starting lineup and forged a brilliant partnership with skipper Joao Victor.

Joao Victor- 7.0

The skipper was again at the centre of most attacking moves, kept the ball rolling, protected possession and helped the defence keep a clean-sheet. He was quick to close down spaces in midfield, as the three clearances and an interception indicate.

Nikhil Poojary- 6.0

Nikhil Poojary had a mixed performance and did not have enough impact in the attacking third. He made two crosses and attempted two shots off target. He needs to do better to ensure a regular starting place in the lineup.

Rohit Danu- 6.0

The forward made his first start in the ISL. Looked nervous in the initial stages, but worked his socks off and performed his defensive duties well too. Danu had 29 touches, one shot attempt and three interceptions.

Bartholomew Ogbeche- 8.0

Bartholomew Ogbeche’s seventh-minute goal was the difference-maker on the night. His 38th goal ensured his team recorded an important win and got the three points.

Javier Siverio- 6.5

The Spaniard was making his first start for HFC since joining the club in the summer. He gave a good account of himself and a partnership with Ogbeche could be a viable option moving forward.

Substitutes

Joel Chianese- 6.0

The Australian came off the bench, replacing Siverio. He merely had eight touches on the ball, but made two important blocks in defence.

Aniket Jadhav- 5.5

Aniket Jadhav came on to replace Rohit Danu and had 12 touches in 19 minutes of game-time. He picked up a yellow card and lacked sharpness.

Sahil Tavora- N/A

Came too late to make an impact.

Edu Garcia- N/A

Came too late to make an impact.

Aaren D’Silva- N/A

Came too late to make an impact.

Bengaluru FC ( by Kaushik Vishwanath )

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu- 5.5

The Bengaluru FC keeper couldn’t stop a deflected shot from Ogbeche to give Hyderabad the lead. Otherwise, he wasn’t troubled a lot by the Nizams. He made one save and faced only two shots on target.

Naorem Roshan Singh- 5.5

Had a tough time covering Akash Mishra on the night and was also booked for a foul on the Hyderabad left-back. He got better as the game progressed completing two crosses, four tackles, three clearances and two interceptions.

Pratik Chaudhari- 6.5

Combined well with Alan Costa in defence, keeping the Hyderabad FC attack at bay. Made one interception and blocked two shots. He also completed the joint second-highest number of passes among Bengaluru FC players with 31. His pass accuracy of 76% was the second-highest of any Bengaluru player on the night.

But, he was guilty of conceding the winner when he poked a leg at Ogbeche’s shot. The ball deflected off his outstretched leg and past Gurpreet into the net.

Alan Costa- 6.5

Put in a solid show with one tackle and two interceptions on the night. He also completed the most number of passes (43) and the most number of touches (68) of any player on the pitch.

Ashique Kuruniyan- 5.0

The Blues left-back had a rather dull day. He completed only eight passes at an accuracy of 33%. Ashique also had a tough time managing Asish Rai and Nikhil Poojary, who had his number all night.

[KH_ADWORDS type="2" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS]

Jayesh Rane- 5.5

The midfielder blew hot and cold on the night. Did his best to press Hyderabad high up the pitch, but struggled to maintain the intensity in defence, as Akash Mishra and Joao Victor combined to open up Bengaluru’s right flank time and again.

Completed only 50% of his passes, made one tackle and interception respectively and created one chance for Cleiton Silva.

Bruno Ramires- 6.0

Covered the most distance by any player on the night with 9.4 km. But, he was often pulled out of position which allowed Hyderabad to control major parts of the midfield.

Suresh Singh Wangjam- 5.5

Like Jayesh, he blew hot and cold. Got one shot on target, made three successful interceptions and one tackle. He got booked for a silly challenge in the 38th minute and was taken off in the 89th minute.

Edmund Lalrindika- 4.5

Despite his best efforts, he couldn’t muster a lot. Lalrindika was taken off in the 35th minute. All he had to show for his efforts was a 58% pass completion rate, two fouls and winning one free-kick.

Sunil Chhetri- 5.5

The skipper hasn’t struck his best levels yet and it was evident once again. He tried to impose himself, but was often left frustrated at the end of attacks.

Chhetri completed 74% of his passes and created only one chance on the night. He also had only one shot which was also off target, indicating the type of night the skipper had.

Cleiton Silva- 6.5

Cleiton got himself at the receiving end of arguably the best chances for Bengaluru FC. But, like Chhetri, he too was left frustrated with the lack of end product.

He created one chance, got two shots on target and put in three crosses. Gave it all but in the end, got no reward for it.

Substitutes

Parag Shrivas - 5

Replaced Ashique Kuruniyan in the 77th minute. He completed 80% of his passes, the highest of any BFC player on the night. But otherwise, only had one interception to show for this 18-minute cameo.

Danish Farooq - 5

Came on in the 35th minute for Edmund Lalrindika. Couldn’t do much to impose himself in midfield. Had a tough time manning the midfield with Bruno Ramires often being pulled out of position. Completed 61% of his passes and only had one tackle and interception respectively in the 60-odd minutes he played in.

Sivasakthi Narayanan - 4.5

Replaced Suresh Singh Wangjam in the 89th minute and didn’t have a lot to do other than committing a foul on Sahil Tavora and Joao Victor.
