The Islanders and the Mariners remain outside the top four but are alive in the race to get there.

ATK Mohun Bagan’s drought against Mumbai City FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) continues, as the two played out an entertaining 1-1 draw on Thursday. The Mariners took the lead in the ninth minute after pouncing on a defensive error, with David Williams producing a smart finish to make it 1-0.

However, the Islanders were gifted an equalizer in the 24th minute when Pritam Kotal scored a silly own-goal. Neither team was clinical enough to get the winner after that, having to share the points – with the result doing no good to either of their top-four hopes. Let us have a look at Khel Now's evaluation of the players' performances:

Mumbai City FC vs ATK Mohun Bagan Match Highlights

Mumbai City FC (By Riddhiman Sarkar)

Mohammad Nawaz - 6.5

The Mumbai City goalie made one slick fingertip save, but could do nothing about ATK Mohun Bagan's opener. Got himself four saves in total and ran out of goal once to clear the danger.

Rahul Bheke - 6.0

Solid showing on the right-hand side of the defence, as he was adept in possession and rarely let Colaco out of sight. Got a yellow card. He made three tackles and won five out of his eight aerial duels.

Mourtada Fall- 6.0

Clearly looked uncomfortable at times while dealing with the likes of Hugo Boumous. Made four clearances and blocked three shots.

Mehtab Singh- 6.0

Slotted into Bheke’s natural position alongside Fall at the heart of the defence and made seven clearances.

Mandar Rao Dessai - 6.5

Surveilled the left flank and tried to keep Manvir Singh in check. Was caught flat-footed too often, as a number of through balls weaved past him. Made one interception and two tackles.

Lalengmawia - 6.5

Cycled the ball well, but was often on the back foot, as Mumbai City FC could not build attacks as often. Got 54 touches on the ball and won four out of seven of his ground duels.

Ahmed Jahouh - 5.5

Rare shaky outing from the otherwise engine of Mumbai City, as he conceded possession in the first half and ATK Mohun Bagan took the lead through David Williams.

Tried to finish a few gilt-edged chances, but could only pick up a yellow card. Subbed off for Vinit Rai in the 82nd minute, winning only three of his eight ground duels.

Vikram Pratap Singh- 5.5

Tried to get on the end of a few balls, but to no avail. His only highlight of the night was a lunging late tackle on Hugo Boumous on the brink of half-time. Not effective, as he came off for Chhangte in the 60th minute, with only 17 touches on the ball and two failed take-ons.

Cassinho - 6.5

Weaving runs into half-spaces and exquisite dribbling from the Brazilian. Came off for Brad Inman in the 92nd minute, after a good shift that yielded six successful take-ons out of 10.

Bipin Singh- 6.5

Got Mumbai’s leveller, as his pinpoint cross took a freakish deflection off Pritam Kotal and caught Amrinder completely off guard. Completed all four of his attempted long balls.

Diego Mauricio - 5.5

Apart from his one key pass, couldn’t really get up to speed and help Mumbai City in levelling the score. Went off for Igor Angulo at half-time, with no shots attempted.

Substitutes

Igor Angulo- 6.0

Intelligent display from the Spaniard after he came on and almost gave Mumbai City the lead in the 72nd minute with his swerving free-kick. Got three shots on goal, but could not convert any of them.

Lallianzuala Chhangte - 6.0

Great awareness from the pacy winger, as he found Angulo on one instance with a clever flicked-on header, who then headed into Amrinder’s gloves. A lively outing saw him attain 100% passing accuracy.

Vinit Rai - 6.0

Completed 75% of his passes, but only got 11 touches on the ball.

Brad Inman - N/A

Too little time to make an impact.

ATK Mohun Bagan (By Uttiyo Sarkar)

Amrinder Singh – 6.0

Couldn’t react sharply enough for the equalizer. Made some sharp saves afterwards, but still looked slightly shaky against crosses and high balls.

Ashutosh Mehta – 7.0

The right-back was strong against Bipin Singh’s threat and frustrated him with a disciplined defensive showing. Made three clearances and as many blocks to ensure Bipin couldn’t cause major damage to his side.

Pritam Kotal – 4.0

The ATK Mohun Bagan skipper had a brain-fade moment by heading a ball straight into his own goal to gift Mumbai City an equalizer.  Looked uncharacteristically shaky and could lose his centre-back spot to Jhingan soon.

Tiri – 8.5

The Spaniard stood strong against Mumbai’s attacking onslaught and made up for his partner’s errors. Kept Diego Mauricio quiet and also kept a hold on Igor Angulo. Made six clearances, as many interceptions and four blocks to shut out Mumbai’s attacks.

Subhasish Bose – 6.5

Bose kept a close check on Vikram Pratap, nullifying his threat and not allowing him in dangerous areas. A bit reeled by Chhangte, but put up a hard-working showing to keep things tidy on his side.

Carl McHugh – 7.5

McHugh was really electric in midfield and pressed the Mumbai players smartly, helping his side control and gain a lot of possession. Made an insane seven tackles and three interceptions, but many of his forward passes were wasteful.

Deepak Tangri – 6.0

The youngster was a vibrant figure in midfield, stalling a number of Mumbai City’s attacks and making two key blocks to frustrate the Islanders.

[KH_ADWORDS type="1" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS]

Manvir Singh – 6.0

Manvir worked hard to make things difficult for Mandar Rao Dessai, getting past him multiple times to create some nice chances. But again, lacked the teeth to get among the goals.

Hugo Boumous – 7.0

Boumous smartly pick-pocketed former teammate Ahmed Jahouh to setup the opener. Won possession smartly in some key areas, created quite a few nice chances – but lacked the ruthlessness to come up with more goal contributions.

Liston Colaco – 6.5

The speedy winger tormented Rahul Bheke with his exciting dribbles and nearly scored a smart close-range finish in the first half that was saved. Fizzled out towards the end.

David Williams – 8.5

Williams continued his impressive ‘big game record’ by pouncing on a mistake and leaving Jahouh in the dust to blast in a superb goal. Hit the bar with an instinctive header and nearly scored another pile-driver in the first half. Was ATK Mohun Bagan's most threatening attacking outlet, but surprisingly taken off before the hour mark despite Mumbai City defenders struggling to mark him.

Substitutes

Joni Kauko – 6.0

Couldn’t make the same impact as the player he replaced (Williams), but did move the ball forward smartly towards the end.

Prabir Das – 6.0

Das was an energetic man going up and down the right-wing, but his delivery wasn’t accurate enough to force goals.

Kiyan Nassiri – N/A

Didn’t have enough time to replicate his heroics from the last game.
