The Islanders scored three inside the opening 24 minutes to kill the game in the first half.

Mumbai City FC raced four points clear at the top of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 after thrashing Jamshedpur FC 4-2 at the Fatorda on Thursday. Billed as the top-of-the-table clash, Mumbai City and Jamshedpur FC entered this clash on the back of impressive results in their previous games. The Islanders were already a point clear at the top after four games, while Jamshedpur FC from the same number of matches had eight points and were second.

The game was just three minutes old when Casio Gabriel scored, with his cross for Igor Angulo rolling into the net, after Angulo wrong-footed the Jamshedpur goalkeeper with his run. Merely 14 minutes later, Bipin Singh doubled the lead with Cassinho laying it on a platter for him. Angulo then added himself to the mix with a terrific strike, as Jamshedpur went into the break 3-0 down. Owen Coyle's men did come out stronger and pulled two back through Komal Thatal and Eli Sabia, but Ygor Catatau once again came off the bench to kill the match with a vociferous volley.

Here are the player ratings of both teams from the Mumbai City FC Vs Jamshedpur FC match:

Mumbai City FC (By Shivam Tiwari)

Mohammad Nawaz- 6.0

Nawaz's distribution was very inconsistent throughout the game. He almost gifted Jamshedpur a golden opportunity through a poor pass in the first half. Nawaz also should have done better for the two goals he conceded. He had three saves in the game.

Amey Ranawade- 6.0

Amey failed to prevent or block Komal Thatal's shot. He, however, constantly put his body on the line to keep the Jamshedpur attackers away from the ball. He also won two fouls while under pressure.

Mortouda Fall- 6.0

The Mumbai City captain wasn't at his best as Jamshedpur FC attackers continued to get the better of him. He was beaten for the second goal of Jamshedpur and failed to meet the cross that, if headed in the right direction, could have given Jamshedpur their third goal. He almost had an assist through a set-piece, but Igor's header had no power.

Rahul Bheke- 7.0

Bheke was crucial in defence for Mumbai. His clearance in the 44th minute denied Ishan Pandita any chance of getting his team back in the game.

However, he did fail to clear the cross for Jamshedpur's second goal. The Indian international made amends for it through his sublime assist for Ygor Catatau.

Mandar Dessai- 6.0

Mandar had a better outing than the last game. He had a largely uneventful match. Mumbai City FC could have had more help from him when under pressure.

Lalengmawia Ralte- 6.0

Apuia continued from where he left against Bengaluru FC. He made a tactical foul early in the game to prevent Thatal from getting inside the box. He helped Nawaz by recovering the ball from Ishan Pandita after the goalkeeper misplaced his pass.

Ahmed Jahouh- 6.0

Jahouh's passing in Mumbai's defensive half was quite risky. His giveaways could have resulted in better opportunities for Jamshedpur had they fielded Nerijus Valskis.

The Moroccan midfielder was dribbled past by Greg Stewart before the Jamshedpur playmaker provided Thatal with the assist.

Raynier Fernandes- 7.5

Raynier had an impressive first half as he continuously acted as the link between Mumbai's midfield and attack. He won the possession back for Mumbai before Gabriel setup Angulo for the third goal. The Indian international finished the game with a passing accuracy of 76%.

Cassio Gabriel- 9.5

He scored a goal and had two assists. Cassio could have had more if Vikram was a bit sharper in the box. He helped Mumbai City FC defend their lead by continuously tracking back and aiding the midfielders. Cassio Gabriel had the perfect game.

Bipin Singh- 7.0

Bipin Singh scored a tap-in after Gabriel stole the ball from Eli Sabia. He put in a couple of crosses early in the first half. Bipin, however, failed to get the better of the Jamshedpur defence. He was limited to just 30 touches.

Igor Angulo- 7.5

Igor scored another goal for Mumbai through a Gabriel assist. He was, however, largely kept quiet by the Jamshedpur defence. Two of his three shots on the target were weak attempts.

Substitutions

Vikram Pratap Singh- 5.0

Vikram showed the pace he possesses a couple of times in the game. He should have been clinical in the box as he failed to take advantage of a beautiful Gabriel through ball.

Ygor Catatau- 7.0

Ygor Catatau continued his stellar form from the bench. He scored off a Bheke long ball after shielding the ball from Narendra Gehlot.

Gurkirat Singh- N/A

He didn't have enough time to make an impact.

Jamshedpur FC (By Balraj Kumar)

Rehnesh TP- 5.5

Rehnesh was sloppy like the previous game and conceded two sitters, which proved to be the difference in the end. Despite making four saves and one punch, the Jamshedpur custodian had a night to forget and needs to hit his last season's form soon.

Laldinliana Renthlei- 6.0

He put in a brilliant cross for the second goal, but had nothing much to do in attack after that. Making two clearances and interceptions wasn't the performance the coach expected from the young man.

Eli Sabia- 6.5

He was easily beaten by Cassinho for the second goal and should've done better against Angulo during the third goal. Although he did pull one back for his side from a deflected ball off the post. Defensively he had eight clearances and two interceptions with a tackle to his name in the 63 minutes he played.

Peter Hartley- 5.5

Before being subbed off in the 76th minute, Peter Hartley did not do enough to help his side with just one clearance and tackle each. He won two of his four duels and got booked for a reckless challenge.

Ricky Lallawmawma- 5.5

Ricky had one clearance with two interceptions to his name with zero shots blocked. After a dangerous cross for Ishan Pandita, he went missing in attack and didn't contribute much in defence too.

Pronay Halder- 6.5

Pronay was subbed off at half-time and did well to win balls and control the midfield. He had 33 touches on the ball with 18 successful passes.

Jitendra Singh- 6.5

Like the last match, Jitendra's work-rate was appreciable, he was continuously running and looked to contribute in both the aspects. He had 38 touches on the ball with 79% accurate passes, with one tackle and won a foul for his side.

Alex Lima- 6.5

He was given the role of a box-to-box player, but failed to make any defensive impact with just one tackle and merely two interceptions. He did complete 28 of his 35 attempted passes, but held the ball too much, which helped Mumbai defenders to track back.

Komal Thatal
Thatal scored the first goal for Jamshedpur FC against Mumbai City (Courtesy: ISL Media)

Komal Thatal- 7.0

Komal delivered his best performance for Jamshedpur FC and opened the scoring for his side. With two shots on target and winning three fouls for the team, the youngster showed glimpses of his abilities to impact the game on his own.

Greg Stewart- 7.5

Jamshedpur FC's best player on the pitch, Greg continued his inspiring display as a roaming playmaker. He completed three dribbles with 37 successful passes and 66 touches on the ball. He provided the assist for Komal's goal and won four duels, while playing in an advanced position.

Ishan Pandita- 6.0

Ishan got his first start and failed to impress, as he missed one big chance and was unlucky to be denied by the woodwork in the second half. With 17 touches and two key passes, he tried to make an impact but was taken off after 63 minutes.

Jordan Murray- 7.0

Despite being on the pitch for only 15 minutes, Murray had nine touches and delivered an excellent cross for Valskis.
