Jordan Murray scored the winning goal in the 85th minute.

Jamshedpur FC have almost got themselves into the playoffs after a narrow victory over NorthEast United. The game saw many twists and turns, with the Highlanders scoring twice within a couple of minutes to equalize. But eventually, it was Australian striker Jordan Murray who sealed the deal with an 85th-minute winner for Owen Coyle's side.

Happy with the win, Jamshedpur FC boss Owen Coyle spoke about the game in the post-match press conference. Here are the excerpts.

On the Game

Jamshedpur FC were undoubtedly the dominant side in the first 60 minutes, but the game turned towards Khalid Jamil's side after that. Owen Coyle shared his thoughts on the game.

“We were by far the better team. NorthEast (United) got us in trouble because we made two mistakes. Instead of 2-0 it should’ve been 4-0 or 5-0, we were so far in the game. But, credit for them to make it 2-2. We were angry, but we picked ourselves up and scored the beautiful winner. So, there is no doubt we were the best team on the pitch tonight and got fully-deserved three points,” the coach started.

“Of course, I’m disappointed with the way we conceded, but again we were decimated by injuries. The skipper (Greg Stewart) had to come off, young Ritwik (Das) got off and other boys who went in gave everything they had. So, it's a wonderful team effort and I hope we continue,” he added.

Playing Against a Team With Nothing to Lose

NothEast United had nothing to lose coming into the game. They were like wounded lions and the coach agreed that it is difficult to play such teams in the business end.

“It’s always difficult. You know 2-0, but NorthEast (United) were relaxed, there was no pressure on them. So called pressure was on us, as we were desperate to win to get into the top four or the top end for the shield. But, you have to win tough games. You see that last night with ATK (Mohun Bagan) and Odisha and last week with Bengaluru and NorthEast (United). So, for us to deliver that level of performance, especially after it was 2-2, speaks of our character. But, we have to fight for more points against Hyderabad and ATK (Mohun Bagan).”

Seiminlen Doungel's Performance

“Len is an outstanding player that’s why I signed him from FC Goa last January. He has the ability and work-rate and he is a true team player. Doungel was bitten by injuries. He had an ankle injury and even today he wasn’t 100% fit.

'But, he picked himself because young Boris (Singh) is injured, Komal (Thatal) is injured and Farukh (Choudhury is missing for the season. We are showing that whoever comes in is ready to give all to Jamshedpur FC and that is really important.”

Update on Peter Hartley's Injury

“I don’t think it was the key to conceding goals. But, I believe in Peter’s presence we feel more secure. He is a leader and organizer and is a winner. Hartley is a top centre-back in the league,” the tactician spoke about the skipper.

The boss signed off by saying it will be disappointing to play without Greg Stewart against Hyderabad FC as he picked up four yellow cards.
