The Spaniard opined that SCEB played well after they conceded the first goal.
Yet another disappointing result for SC East Bengal as they succumb to a 2-0 defeat against NorthEast United. The first half was a bit of a drag but the game changed after the half time as NorthEast United looked much more of an improved side. The Highlanders deservedly took the lead in the 60th minute through VP Suhair. The Highlanders’ lead was doubled when defender Patrick Flottman scored in the 68th minute. After the match SC East Bengal FC head coach Manolo Diaz spoke to the media:

Played well despite the loss
East Bengal are yet to win a match this season. On being asked how he keeps his players motivated after this bad start to the season, the Spaniard replied, “It’s a difficult situation. But we after the first goal, we played well. We had very good opportunities.”
On not including Adil Khan
Despite Indian internationals like Adil Khan sitting on the bench, the SC East Bengal coach went for different options on being asked about the reason behind that, the 53-year old stated “Amir has played in their position like midfielders. And Raju played like centre-back. It’s his natural position. That is the reason I have done this changes.”
Manolo Diaz further added, “In Indian Super league only eleven players in every match because of that reason I choose the starters.”

Performance not good enough
As they look for the first win of the season. The East Bengal manager believes that this is because their performance simply hasn’t been good enough.
“All the players are doing their best but the performance - it is what it is. We have big problem regarding the three points. The squad is doing their best but it’s not enough - the level we have," Diaz signed off.
