SC East Bengal are yet to win their first Indian Super League game this season

SC East Bengal suffered their fourth loss in ISL 2021-22 as they went down 2-0 against Khalid Jamil's NorthEast United. While the first half felt evenly-matched, the second one turned out to be a completely different one — with the Highlanders absolutely dominating the field overall.

VP Suhair opened the scoring with a calm and composed finish in the 61st minute, followed by a simple header by Patrick Flottmann in the 68th minute. While on the other hand, things simply took a roundabout for the Red and Gold in this phase. With this defeat, SC East Bengal remain last in the standings, while NorthEast United jump to seventh.

Here are the ratings from the NorthEast United Vs SC East Bengal match:

NorthEast United (by Ujyant Ramesh)

Mirshad Michu- 6.5

Made a brilliant diving save in the very second minute to deny Naorem Mahesh Singh. However, he had a risky moment in the 28th minute, when he tried rushing out to clear the ball. Nonetheless, a decent performance with three saves overall.

Provat Lakra- 6.0

Provat lost the ball multiple times and looked quite sloppy in his passing, giving away the ball to the opposition quite a few times.

Jestin George- 6.5

Started as a replacement for Hernan Santana, who was injured during warm-up and he did execute his role well with a good number of long balls (13) and vital clearances throughout.

Patrick Flottmann- 7.5

Scored the second goal in the 68th minute via a simple header. Apart from that, he had a good performance at the back, with a whopping 95% passing accuracy.

Gurjinder Kumar- 7.0

Had a decent performance as a left wing-back. Carried the ball forward and delivered some crosses into the box, but couldn't really power them that well.

He took a total of three shots with two of them on target and operated well on the left flank, both in offence as well as defence.

Mathias Coureur- 7.5

Coureur started that vital build-up leading to Suhair's 60th minute goal. Assessed the situation well and found Danmawia, who then gave it to Suhair for the first goal. He was not at his best in the first 45, but came alive in the second half.

Khassa Camara

Khassa Camara- 8.0

Had his presence virtually all over the pitch. Was clean with his distribution, made some impressive close touches and also had the most passes and touches in the game. Overall, he controlled the midfield really well.

Imran Khan- 7.5

Thrust forward at times to receive passes and whipped in some vital balls from the near post, only for them to be cleared by SC East Bengal's defence. Created the most chances in the game (4) and also got an assist.

Rochharzela- 6.0

Right from the beginning, he looked bright in attack with his runs towards the box and awareness in his passing to setup some offensive threats. However, similar to Mapuia, he did struggle in reaching the ball.

VP Suhair- 8.0

Had a lively second half as he scored in the 60th minute. Suhair also made some good plays in terms of his passing towards Mapuia and his general skills in the form of his turns and awareness of options inside the box.

Lalkhawpuimawia- 6.0

Mapuia tried his luck from inside the box at times, such as a volley in the 19th minute. However, it didn't look like his best game tonight as he was a bit sloppy in the final third, both while receiving the ball as well as taking his shots.

Substitutes

Laldanmawia Ralte- 6.5

Came on in place of Rochharzela in the 53rd minute. Played a role in the first goal during the attack setup by Mathias Coureur.

Tondoba Singh- N/A

Came on as a late substitution in the 90th minute.

SC East Bengal (by Sattyik Sarkar)

Arindam Bhattacharya- 6.5

Couldn't do much for the goals he conceded. Made a crucial clearance from Raju Gaikwad’s back-pass in the first half.

Raju Gaikwad- 6.0

Started as a right-back, but after Franjo Prce left the pitch, shifted to a centre-back. Wasn’t up to the mark as a right-back. Played better as a centre-back. Was substituted in the second half.

Tomislav Mrcela- 5.5

His two mis-cleared headers could have led to dangerous situations. Was average in his trade tonight.

Franjo Prce- 7.0

Suffered an injury and had to be substituted in the first half. Looked pretty impressive in the 29 minutes that he lasted.

Hira Mondal- 7.5

Perhaps the best player for SC East Bengal today. Was stout in the left-back position. Made some clearances, crucial ones too. Even tried some trickery, which didn’t find its target.

Lalrinliana Hnamte
Hnamte was quite impressive for SC East Bengal but fizzled out as the game advanced (Courtesy: ISL Media)

Lalrinliana Hnamte- 6.0

Started with zeal but as the match progressed, his game degraded. Did some pressing and chasing.

Mohammed Rafique- 6.5

Was looking good while playing as a central midfielder. But, after being shifted to a right-back position he fizzled out.

Sourav Das- 6.0

Was decent as the shield in front of the defence and made three interceptions and two clearances. Das, however, lacked the creativity to build-up play from deep.

Naorem Mahesh Singh- 6.0

Played only for the first 45 minutes. Tried some trickery on the left flank and was successful, but couldn’t send decent crosses into the box.

Daniel Chima- 5.5

Wasn’t at his best. Missed a clear-cut chance to give his team the lead in the first half. Failed to create much impact.

Antonio Perosevic- 6.0

Much more is expected from SC East Bengal’s frontman. Looked frustrated ever since the start of the game, perhaps because he didn’t receive the kind of balls he expected.

Ultimately, was sent off in the 91st minute. Tried a shot from just outside the box before leaving the pitch, but it sailed wide and high.

Poor performance from the Slovenian. Hardly contributed anything to the orchestration in midfield.

Bikash Jairu- 5.0

Tried to do something on the left flank. Wasn’t impactful.

Luwang Angousana- 5.0

Tried playing some passes. Earned a free-kick in opposition territory.

Balwant Singh- 5.0

First appearance for him this season. Tried a header from a free-kick, but the keeper collected it pretty safely.
