The victory helped the Juggernauts to climb to the second spot in the league standings.

Odisha FC returned to the winning ways after a hard-fought 1-0 victory against NorthEast United on Friday evening. A game of two halves, Odisha FC looked far from convincing in the first half, despite having more possession. It was the Highlanders, who looked more threatening and unlucky not to score. The entry of Jonathas de Jesus and Thoiba Moirangthem in the second half turned the momentum as Odisha FC became more resourceful with the ball on their feet.

Incidentally, it was Thoiba and Jonathas who combined for the only goal of the match. with the game heading towards a draw, Thoiba made a darting run from midfield in the 81st minute and found Jonathas with a delightful cross in the NorthEast box. The Brazilian headed to the ground and into the net to clinch all three points for the Juggernauts. The victory took Odisha FC to the second spot in the standings, while NorthEast United remained on ninth with only one win from five games.

Let's find out how did the Odisha FC and NorthEast United players performed on Friday night.

Odisha FC (By Dibyajyoti Das)

Kamaljit Singh (GK) - 7.0

Made a brilliant double save. Didn’t have much to do, but delivered when called into action. He also registered a 61% passing accuracy.

Hendry Antonay - 6.5

The Odisha FC defender was solid at the back and kept the NorthEast United wingers at bay. However, he was far from convincing while going forward. At the back, he made three clearances and two tackles and interceptions each.

Gaurav Bora - 7.0

Struggled initially against Deshorn Brown, but slowly grew into the game to shut out the NorthEast United striker. Bora won four of the six aerial duels he attempted and registered three ground duels.

Victor Mongil - 7.5

Held his own against the Highlanders' attack and was the most accurate passer of the match with an accuracy of 89%.

Lalruatthara - 7.0

The left-back put up an impressive show on Friday night. Was solid defensively and looked threatening going forward as well. Lalruatthara made four clearances and created a goalscoring chance as well.

Liridon Krasniqi - 6.5

Kept NorthEast United’s pressing at bay by protecting the ball well, but slowed down the game. Had a major role in Odisha failing to get themselves in the game in the first half. The Juggernauts performed better without him on the pitch.

Vinit Rai - 7.5

A decent performance from the midfielder. Rai completed the most number of passes (53) in the match with an accuracy of 84%.

Issac Vanmalsawma - 6.5

Was solid with the ball with a pass accuracy of 81%, but did not do enough with it.

Javi Hernandez - 6.0

Had a rather quiet night by his standards. Javi looked frustrated as the game grew and was fouled four times. He failed to create any chance.

Ariday Cabrera - 7.0

He looked like a threat throughout the match and the only drawback from this performance was the final product. Ariday hit the woodwork early from a set-piece and was lively every time he had the ball.

Daniel Lalhlimpuia - 5.0

Hardly had any impact on the game with only eight touches in the first half. Was subbed off after the break.

Substitutions

Jerry Mawihmingthanga - 6.0

Was not at his usual best. Had 19 touches after coming on at half-time but couldn’t do much with the ball. Created a fine chance for Cabrera.

What an impact by the youngster as he got the assist for the winning goal. A perfect cross after a brilliant run, setting it up for Jonathas Jesus to head home. He also completed his take-ons and also won most of his duels.
