Jamshedpur FC faced their first defeat of the season against Mumbai City in the last game.
Jamshedpur FC will look to bag all three points from their next game against Odisha FC on Tuesday evening. Despite the defeat in the last game, Owen Coyle and Co. were competitive and fought for the win till the last minute, which shows the team are motivated to win against any opponent.
Except the last match, Jamshedpur FC's defence has been solid as usual, but, unlike before, the goals are coming from players of every department for the Men of Steel. The team have seen eight different goalscorers this season. Against the aggressive Odisha side, coach Coyle wants his team to keep playing free-flowing attacking football, along with keeping the defence stable.
Thoughts on recovery from last game
Although Jamshedpur FC had a disappointing outing against the Mumbai City in the last game, the coach is focused on the next game.
"The easiest way to recover is to head to our next game and win against Odisha. But, what we've got to do is get back to our best form. I think with any game; you're always going to have individual mistakes. What we have to do is make mistakes not as glaring as what they were because really there was no recovery from the mistakes we made against Mumbai City FC. Sometimes, you can make a mistake from a starting position and sometimes it can be a misplaced pass and other different types of errors. The bottom line is whatever happened, we were hurt by it because we were punished severely for our errors because Mumbai City were clinical," Owen Coyle explained.
"There'll be times that you will make those mistakes and not be punished as severely as we were, but we did because they were a clinical side. But, what we did show throughout the whole game was that we created many chances and that's what we have to do and make sure we are clinical because if we do that, we have shown that we can score goals and win games. We have to play exactly like we planned against a very good Odisha team," he went on.
Injury Updates
Peter Hartley was substituted after 73 minutes due to sudden strain, when asked about his availability, Owen Coyle revealed, "He's been receiving treatment. We'll give him till the last minute to see if he's available for the game. If not, then of course, we will make a decision on that. We do have competition for places and hopefully the skipper's available because he has an important part of what we do."
The updates about the much-anticipated return of Jordan Murray and Seiminlen Doungel were also given by the coach. "Len has managed to train today, so we're hoping that Len will be available. Obviously, Jordan Murray is now joining us in doing all the training and what Jordan needs now is more minutes, as he is slowly building up and up from his injury," he said, before adding, "Young Mobashir (Rahman) has been injured since the start of the season, but is making good progress. The Odisha game is probably too soon, but is getting better as he’s knowing his way back, which is good news for us."
Approach against rejuvenated Odisha FC
Odisha FC are riding on a dream start to their campaign with 11 goals in four games and their attacking prowess must be a matter of deep concern for Jamshedpur FC. When asked about the approach and mindset before the game, the coach asserted, "Jamshedpur only knows how to play in one way and that's to win matches.

"We’re very respectful of who we play against and we recognize qualities of the opposition, but we don't change our game plan according to the team we’re facing, with all due respect. We have our state of play at a high intensity. We see our plan being utilized with the results we bring when we're at our best. So, we have to focus on what we can do at Jamshedpur and if we perform at our very best, then it is a game that we can win. We have to make sure we're ready to give every ounce of effort with the quality we have to win a tough game against a very good Odisha team," he further added.
On Ishan Pandita & clean-sheet
Ishan Pandita got his first ISL start against the Islanders. Owen Coyle looked happy with his development and said, " Ishan is a great lad. He is a team player who wants to help his team, which makes it fantastic to have him in the group. He can score goals, we know that. But, what we're trying to do is develop his all-round game and he will only get better as we move on."
The tactician signed off by saying that he expects better from the referees, so that his side can have clean-sheets in following games.
