Mario Rivera disappointed after heavy defeat against Hyderabad FC
The Red and Gold returned to the bottom of the table.
When fans had just started to hope again, the Nizams brought SCEB back to losing. Bartholomew Ogbeche shone, as his hat-trick helped Hyderabad FC put four goals past SC East Bengal. In a matter of days, head coach Mario Rivera will have to face the daunting challenge of a Kolkata Derby.
Let’s see what the coach had to say after the underwhelming result:
On a disappointing result
The media first quizzed Rivera on whether he was disappointed. “Yes, of course. When you lose, the result is always a little disappointing.
“We gave our all and tried to score till the end. We tried to play good football, but some mistakes cost us,” Rivera said honestly.
Franjo Prce taking the penalty
An unusual candidate stepped up to take the penalty. It was defender Franjo Prce who took it upon himself almost as soon as the spot-kick was given. “Both Antonio (Perosevic) and Semboi (Haokip) were not on the pitch and Franjo was convinced he could take it. He has the quality to take it as well, but the keeper made a really good save,” the coach clarified.

Whether Bartholomew Ogbeche is the best player in the league
Ogbeche was undoubtedly the best player on the pitch. “I think all the touches he took inside the box were goals! Obviously, he is one of the best players in the league and he has a very long career of scoring wherever he plays,” lauded Rivera.
Planning ahead for Kolkata Derby
SCEB will have to quickly put this bad result behind them and start preparing for the Kolkata Derby. “The plan is the same. We will go for the win. For the derby, we will try to be more intense and grateful to our supporters,” the coach concluded.
