This gameweek also witnessed the ISL 2021-22 season cross the 100 goals' mark.
Two high-scoring encounters lit up Goa this week in ISL 2021-22, as Hyderabad FC routed NorthEast United 5-1 and Jamshedpur FC had a flawless outing in a 4-0 win against Odisha FC. Goa finally got their second victory of the campaign, winning 2-1 in a close encounter against Bengaluru FC and Chennaiyin FC were unlucky to give all three points to Mumbai City.
Both Kerala Blasters and East Bengal now have three draws each, adding another one to their quota of single-pointers. The Islanders now have a four-point lead at the top of the table, with Jamshedpur and Hyderabad following suit. Meanwhile, let’s take a look at the Team of the Week:
Goalkeeper: TP Rehenesh (Jamshedpur FC)
Jamshedpur FC had one of their best outings in the history of the Indian Super League against Odisha FC, with most players putting in an inspired shift.
It all started from the back, with custodian TP Rehenesh keeping a clean-sheet under the bar, while making two crucial saves.

Right-Back: Asish Rai (Hyderabad FC)
Defending with his body on the line, Rai hit the ground running, creating a key chance as early as the 7th minute. He was tireless throughout, as Manolo Marquez’s men brushed aside any challenge from NEUFC. He fired in five crosses and had an enviable number of tackles and interceptions.
Centre-Back: Rahul Bheke (Mumbai City FC)
When he’s not keeping the defence of Mumbai City in tight shape, Rahul Bheke is scoring clutch goals. The Indian centre-back scored in the 86th minute, with a sweetly-timed run and header against Chennaiyin FC, earning all three points for his new club. This was his first goal for Mumbai!
Centre-Back: Peter Hartley (Jamshedpur FC)
Rahul Bheke wasn’t the only centre-back scoring goals this week in ISL 2021-22; Peter Hartley wasn’t too far from the action himself.
The JFC captain had another characteristic outing, winning all his aerial duels and making three clearances. He also opened the scoring for his club from a header off a set-piece, setting the tone for a 4-0 rout.
Left-Back: Jessel Carneiro (Kerala Blasters)
He comes, he delivers, he walks back. Jessel Carneiro has been putting in one shift after another in the backline for Kerala Blasters in ISL 2021-22.
While delivering on his defensive duties, he won all ground duels and also assisted Alvaro Vazquez to bring parity to the scoreline. He’s been a clutch player for the Blasters this season!

Central Midfielder: Lalengmawia (Mumbai City)
If there’s only enough space for a tennis ball to pass between two players, Lalengmawia will more often than not push across a football through that space.
He’s been a treat to watch, showing immaculate positioning and sharp ability on the ball. Twisting, turning and creating space at will, Apuia is one of the best midfielders in the country on the ball, undoubtedly.
Central Midfielder: Lalthathanga Khawlhring (Kerala Blasters)
Puitea, as he’s commonly known, had one of his best outings in the yellow shirt since coming to the Blasters in 2020, against East Bengal.
He was the metronome in the midfield for the Blasters, clocking a mouth-watering 88% passing percentage. Add to that, four tackles, six successful ground duels and six long balls and you’ve a sound outing.
Central Midfielder: Ahmed Jahouh (Mumbai City)
Had Vishal Kaith not been in a zone of his own, Jahouh would’ve got at least two more assists in the game against Chennaiyin FC. He was instrumental in breaking up play and delivered yet again as the designated set-piece taker.
Bheke directed a well-weighted corner into the back of the net, originating from the Moroccan. Three interceptions, four tackles and two clearances tell you that he had a field day!

Right Forward: Devendra Murgaokar (FC Goa)
Both Bengaluru FC and FC Goa are perennial heavyweights in the ISL, but have struggled to get going in the 2021-22 season. However, one man transformed the Gaurs’ luck against the JSW side – Devendra Murgaonkar.
His cross in the 16th minute would’ve been turned in by Jorge Ortiz if not by Ashique Kuruniyan and his 70 minute outing helped Juan Ferrando’s team to three points. This performance will give the boy a lot of confidence.
Striker: Bartholomew Ogbeche (Hyderabad FC)
After trying to play in the No. 10 position behind Javier Siverio, Bartholomew Ogbeche was back to where he belongs – the No. 9 position and reminded the world about his scoring boots.
Earning a brace, he could’ve easily got his hat-trick if not for some clean work from Subhasish Roy Chowdhury. He’s one of the key figures for Hyderabad FC and the former Mumbai City and Kerala Blasters attacker sure knows how to lead the line.
Left Forward: Greg Stewart (Jamshedpur FC)
This man, when he gets into his zone, is a different breed – breed defenders must not mess with. Stewart had one of the outings of this season against Odisha FC, blazing in a hat-trick while also adding an assist to his name. No words needed, really.
