New investor to be finalised in 15 days, says EB official Debabrata Sarkar

Shree Cement returned the sporting rights to East Bengal on April 12.
At a press conference organized by East Bengal at the club tent today, the club officials reiterated that East Bengal will definitely play in the ISL along with other major tournaments. Also, they stated that they are in talks with a few organizations regarding sponsorship. Club official Debabrata Sarkar commented that as soon as Basundhara receive clearance from Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, they will start the negotiations with Group.

Club official Debabrata Sarkar thanked Shree Cement for their two-year-long association with the club. He also said, “Already we are in talks with some potential investors and will confirm it very soon. Everything will be finalized within 10-15 days." Talks with Basundhara are in the advanced stage. They will join East Bengal as their investor as soon as they receive clearance from the Bangladesh Prime Minister.

Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee is closely associated with the process of finalizing the investor. Debabrata Sarkar also thanked the ex-players of the club for their continuous association. He said, “ We are much grateful to them for their continuous association with the club. They have sent us a list of players from I-League. They will be present at Santosh Trophy venues to scout players.”
He reiterated the fact that East Bengal will play in all upcoming tournaments including the ISL. “We will definitely play in ISL. Will be much happy if Mohammedan SC also play in ISL along with us in the future. We will prepare four different teams if the need arises.”

Before informing the club, the Shree Cement officials already informed the Bengal Chief Minister regarding their willingness to leave the club. “West Bengal Chief minister called me on February 17. She said that Shree Cement is willing to return their sporting rights. We were all mentally prepared for the letter. We have accepted the letter and have sent it to our lawyers.” he commented.
The Club officials also thanked Biswa Majumder in the press conference for assisting the club during this period. Debabrata Sarkar said,” We will bring the club back to where it belongs in the coming seasons.”
