The midfielder has been in fine form for the Golden Eagles in the Goa Pro League.
Two-time Indian Super League runners-up Kerala Blasters are chasing Dempo SC midfielder Kirtikesh Gadekar, Khel Now can confirm.
“Kirtikesh has come on the club’s radar after his great performances in Goa Pro League. They are planning to add him to the squad to strengthen the midfield for next season,” a source close to the club has told Khel Now.
After finishing in the bottom half of the table this season, the South Indian franchise are in the talks with the Goan midfielder, who has had a brilliant time with Dempo who currently stand second in the Goa Pro League table.
The young defensive midfielder has been influential for the Golden Eagles from the last campaign after signing from FC Bardez. Kirtikesh Gadekar was rarely used under the then head coach Armando Colaco. However, current tactician Samir Naik has made perfect use of him in the course of an impressive campaign.
Kirtikesh Gadekar has been one of the finest midfielders in the Goa Pro League this season. He has been ruling the middle of the park for Dempo with pinpoint deliveries to their attackers. Moreover, his ability to surprise opposition goalkeepers from long range is one of the key aspects to his game. Furthermore, the 22-year-old is a versatile midfielder and can also drop deep at times.
Interestingly, if the move comes to fruition, Gadekar will reunite with his former teammate Jessel Carneiro, who’s move to the Blasters was also first reported by Khel Now last year. Thus, it will be interesting to see the lively duo play together for the Blasters in the upcoming season.
