Nitesh Sharma scored a brace in Jamia’s emphatic win…
Jamia Millia Islamia defeated Zakir Husain College 3-0 in the semi-final of the RSA Youth League. In the first 15 minutes both sides came close to scoring and played attacking football. In the 10th minute of the game ZHC got the free-kick just outside the box when Yogesh was brought down by the defense of Jamia after an amazing solo run. However the team was not able to take advantage and Pranit’s free-kick went over the bar without troubling the keeper. Few minutes later ZHC again got close to scoring when Yogesh got the ball inside the box but was not able to finish the move. Sikander kept on pressuring the defense and delivered some amazing crosses inside the box. On the left wing Pranjal made some amazing solo runs and kept the defense of Jamia on their toes. In the 30th minute Jamia took the lead through Nitesh Sharma who got the ball due to a defensive mistake by the opponents and chipped the ball over the keeper for the first goal. Mukul made some amazing one on-on-one saves to keep his team in the match and made sure that they did’t concede more goals in the first half. In the dying minutes of the half the team got a final chance to equalize but they could not capitalize on the chance as a good cross was met by a poor finish that was wide of the target. In the second half two changes were made by the ZHC bringing in Mustafa and Ashish Shaw for Hrithik and Yogesh to add pace to the team. In the 60th minute Pranjal made a dazzling run after beating 2-3 defenders and delivered an inch perfect cross into the box but there was no one from the attack to receive it. They were once again punished by Jamia for not converting their chances and Noor made it 2-0 for Jamia in 63rd minute. The trailing team made many mistakes in the defense department and frequently gave many missed passes which lead to the second goal. The third and final change was made by the trailing team in the 70th minute as Dishant was brought in for Tushar Bhati. With each passing minute the team went more attacking in search for a goal. Whereas opponent team tried to slow down the pace of the game in order to protect their 2 goal advantage. In the 80th minute the leading team scored against the run of the play and Nitesh Sharma scored his second of the match through a brilliant header to make it 3-0 for his team. With this win Jamia have entered into the final where they will face Motilal College (evening) 11-11-2016 and ZHC will face Amity College for the ¾ place playoff on the same date.
