The interim head coach insists his side will look to bring out a positive result in their final fixture of the season.

This year's ISL hasn't been too kind for NorthEast United. Having finished the last campaign in fourth position, this season was a massive disappointment for the Highlanders, with the team only being able to secure two victories in 17 matches. Khalid Jamil has been following the interim duties at the club since Robert Jarni's departure. The team are currently in ninth position just above Hyderabad FC, who are at the bottom of the table. With just one game left to play against Chennaiyin FC, the task doesn't look too easy, as the Marina Machans would be looking for a win to move up to third spot. [KH_ADWORDS type="3" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] The result however won't make a difference to NorthEast's standing on the table, as they are five points behind Jamshedpur. But, they would be hoping to spoil the party and get that much-needed win to end this disastrous season on a high. Ahead of the final game, interim head coach Khalid Jamil and midfielder Ninthoinganba Meetei spoke to the media. "This is the last match of the season, our last home game and everybody will try their level best," Jamil said urging the NorthEast fans to show their support. "There are injuries in the team, but the suspensions to some of our players is the main concern," he added. "The more chances they are going to get the better for them, playing experience is difficult," said Khalid Jamil on the youngsters in the team. "They (Chennai) didn't start the season well, but definitely they have good team of Indian players and foreign players." [KH_ADWORDS type="4" align="center"][/KH_ADWORDS] "Yes, there is improvement in the level of play by Indian players. Quite a lot of talented players have come in and the standard has improved considerably," said the coach on this year's ISL season. "It is difficult to motivate them (under the current circumstances). But, it is the last game of the season. We want to finish well, play well and then we will get good contracts. It will help with the overall confidence of the squad," signed off Khalid Jamil. Further, young star Meetei too interacted with the journalists in the conference. "This is my first season and is a really good experience. We played with our senior players and foreigners. I learnt from them. Personally, I am trying my best and trying to be the best," said Meetei when asked about his personal journey so far in the ISL.
