The Spanish La Liga is the second most watched football league in the world. It is regarded as one of the top five elite European leagues and has legendary clubs playing in it.
The calibre of players is top of the line and La Liga attracts some of the best players, who go on to make huge careers thanks to their talent. Reaching the top is one thing, but staying there is another. Only a few players manage to play for a long duration at the elite level.
Here are the top 10 players with most appearances in La Liga:
10. Sergio Ramos- 508
Serio Ramos has made 508 appearances in La Liga, making him the player with the 10th highest appearances in the list. The centre-back represented Sevilla and then Real Madrid in the competition for multiple seasons.
He has won the competition a total of five times, all with the Los Blancos. Ramos signed for Paris Saint-Germain before the 2021-22 season began.
9. Iker Casillas- 510

Legendary Real Madrid player Iker Casillas is next on the list with 510 La Liga appearances. The Spaniard played solely for Real during his time in Spain, before moving to FC Porto for the last few years of his career. Casillas has won the competition five times as well and recorded over 45,688 minutes of game-time.
8. Lionel Messi- 520
One of the greatest players to ever grace the sport, Lionel Messi played over 520 matches in La Liga. He came to Spain at a young age and played for FC Barcelona since he was a teenager.
The Argentine won the competition 10 times, leading the Blaugrana into an era of domestic domination in the past decade. He also holds the record of scoring the most number of goals in La Liga, with 474 strikes.
7. Manolo Sanchis- 523
Manolo Sanchis was a centre-back and represented Real Madrid in La Liga across 523 matches. The legendary defender won the league a total of eight times and also has two Spanish Cups in his locker. Sanchis retired as a professional player in 2001.
6. Raul Garcia- 532

Raul Garcia is one of the two players in this list who are still playing in La Liga. He is currently playing for Athletic Bilbao and has previously represented teams like Atletico Madrid and CA Osasuna. He won the league with Atletico in 2013-14 as well and continues to ply his trade at the top level.
5. Paco Buyo- 542
Paco Buyo is one of only three goalkeepers in the list. He made 542 appearances in La Liga, turning out mostly for Real Madrid. Buyo has a special place in the club’s history and won the league six times with Los Blancos.
4. Eusebio - 543
Eusebio is regarded as one of the best players ever from Spain. The midfielder played over 543 matches in La Liga, representing four clubs.
Eusebio is an FC Barcelona legend, winning the title four consecutive times with them. He retired as a professional in 2002 and has since become a manager.
3. Raul - 550
Raul was one of the most lethal strikers the sport has ever seen. A club legend for Real Madrid, he made over 550 appearances in a glorious career in La Liga.
The Spaniard scored 229 goals as well during that time. He won six league titles and three UEFA Champions League trophies with the club. Currently, he is the manager of Real Madrid Castilla.
2. Joaquin - 587
Joaquin is the second player on the list who is also active in La Liga. The 40-year-old is currently playing for Real Betis in the league and has five appearances, taking his total to 587 overall.
He has previously played for teams like Valencia and Malaga. Joaquin has not won the La Liga, but has two Spanish Cup wins, one each with Valencia and Real Betis.
1. Andoni Zubizarreta- 620

Andoni Zubizarreta with 620 games under his belt, is the player with the most La Liga appearances. The goalkeeper played extensively for Athletic Bilbao, FC Barcelona and Valencia.
He won the league a total of six times, four with Barcelona and two with Athletic Club. Zubizarreta retired as a professional from the sport in 1998.
