Real Madrid sign Brazilian defender Eder Militao from FC Porto
The Brazilian defender will become the first signing of Zinedine Zidane's second stint.
Real Madrid makes their first statement since Zidane's arrival with the signing of Brazilian defender Eder Militao from FC Porto.
The 21-year old versatile centre-back only came to Portugal last season in August and since then has been a revelation for the Portuguese Dragons. Militao started his career through the youth ranks of Sao Paulo back in Brazil and from there coming to European football takes time in getting used to with the different culture, gameplay and lifestyle. But to everyone's surprise, Militao's acute adaptability did impress coach Sergio Conceição.
Little did he knew that with time, Militao would be the first name on the team sheet for Conceição. The Brazilian defender has shown astute technical prowess and game reading and is matured beyond his ages.

His impressive performances in Portugal resonated all over Europe with both Manchester clubs along with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool keen to secure his signature. However with Zidane returning at the helm, the Brazilian becomes his first signing as the club has now confirmed a €50 million deal for the young defender who will join the club this summer.
Militao is primarily a centre-back but in Porto's recent Champions League encounter against Roma the young defender was deployed at the right-back position. Despite being a centre back the 21-year old defender showed great panache and mobility in attack synonymous to any other Brazilian full back. The former Sao Paulo man has also tried his fate as a defensive midfielder and has no issues with playing the ball out from the back with his wide passing range and technique.

Plus the Los Blancos were aware that they weren't the only ones looking around for Militao and hence their only move was to trigger his buyout clause which they eventually did.
It will be interesting to see how he handles the pressure at the Santiago Bernabeu. But the way he settled at Porto in such less time, Real Madrid fans will be hoping that he hits the right chords right from the start.
