Liverpool vs AS Monaco: Full lineups confirmed for pre-season friendly
The Reds will play their penultimate pre-season game today.
Tonight, Monaco will visit Anfield for a pre-season friendly, and Andoni Iraola will take charge of his first home game as Liverpool’s manager.
Since taking over for Arne Slot earlier in the summer, the Spaniard has managed three games, all of which have taken place in the US, as the Reds get ready for the upcoming season abroad.
Before suffering a crushing 4-2 loss to Leeds United in the last game of their preseason tour of the United States, the Reds had already played three games under their new coach, tasting victories against Sunderland and Wrexham. Iraola lost for the first time despite leading by two goals at the interval due to a disastrous performance in the second half.
In order to quickly win over the Anfield supporters, Iraola will want his players to display a lot of intensity and offensive effort. Liverpool will be eager to respond firmly to last weekend’s disappointment now that they are back at home to play AS Monaco today.
Monaco, currently led by former Chelsea left-back Filipe Luis, has had a somewhat mixed preseason so far, defeating Getafe and Saint Priest but losing to Sporting and tying with Cercle Brugge.
