Hyderabad FC are facing serious issues regarding payments of players.

Indian Super League (ISL) debutants Mohammedan Sporting Club are set to strike deals with two prolific Indian players of Hyderabad FC in the upcoming days. Midfielder Makan Winkle Chothe and defender Sajad Hussain Parray are in advanced talks with the Kolkata giants.

It has been learned that the AIFF’s Players’ Status Committee heard about the case of the two Hyderabad FC players regarding the non-payment of dues last week. In that hearing, Hyderabad FC lawyers were not present and as a result, the players were granted permission to join new clubs.

One’s team’s loss is another’s gain

Mohammedan Sporting acted fast in this situation and struck deals with the departing Hyderabad FC players. The move is expected to give a big boost to the century-old club’s defence and midfield.

Both players were involved in a good number of matches in ISL 2023-24, with 21-year-old Sajad playing 11 games and even scoring a goal. While the sensational Makan Chothe played a total of 19 games, scoring two goals.

Chothe’s addition is of an even higher significance from a tactical point of view. While he mainly operates from the right, he can efficiently cater as an attacking midfielder and also from the left. His flexibility ought to make him a regular for the Kolkata-based outfit.

Mohammedan Sporting played with dominance last season, clinching the I-League for the first time in their history. This season, in the ISL, they will look to leave a mark. With new investors onboard,  the club is making smart transfer moves now.

For Hyderabad FC, things remain complicated. Last season, many players left them and they haven’t made progress in 2024-25 either. The club is suffering from severe financial crunches and hopes of a revival for the 2021-22 ISL winners are getting dim with every passing day.
