The loss was the Colts’ fourth of the campaign as they stay bottom in Group B with 3 points while Mohammedan stay atop the standings with 12 points. After what was a delayed kick-off, both teams took time to settle in and while none created any real chance, the visitors took the lead through a defensive error. John Chidi claimed possession after Biswa’s poor header outside the BFC box before slotting it past a helpless Aditya Patra in goal as Mohammedan took a 1-0 lead into the breather.

Six minutes after restart, the referee awarded an indirect free kick to the visitors in the BFC box after he adjudged Patra of collecting a back pass from Biswa. Although the decision was soft, the Colts managed to defend the attempt well and kept the score unchanged. Naushad Moosa’s boys finally pulled level in the 74th minute when Biswa struck from the penalty spot after substitute Damaitphang Lyngdoh was brought down in the box by Hira Mondal.

However, the visitors almost struck immediately at the other end, restoring their one-goal lead after John Chidi’s powerful shot from the edge of the box. Mohammedan substitute Vikas missed a penalty in the 81st minute after Bengaluru B's Amay Morajkar brought down Vanlalbiaa Chhangte in the box, before John Chidi struck three minutes from time to seal the win for the visitors.
