The former England international was all praise for the Reds' African duo.

Former Liverpool and England striker, Emile Heskey has heaped praise on Liverpool duo, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, who have nine goals and four assists between them this season, reports Express. The pair was tied for the Golden Boot in the last campaign, with 22 goals each.

Liverpool currently lie a massive eight points clear at the top of the Premier league table after eight games. The Merseyside club are now on a 17-game winning streak and are the only unbeaten club left in the division.

Mane and Salah were both brought in by Jurgen Klopp and have since gone on to be indispensable members of a Liverpool side that reached two consecutive Champion’s League finals.

“They’ve played a lot of football over the past few seasons, but as a player, you want to be playing as much as possible,” Heskey told Bwin.

"When you look at the pair of them, they just love being out on the pitch and playing football – they’re a manager's dream.”

The duo has been involved in a majority of Liverpool's matches, playing a combined total of 125 games for the club since the start of last season. Heskey pointed out that Mane and Salah might run into a brick wall in terms of mental fatigue, if they are overworked this season.

“In the modern game, players are complete athletes. Although they’ve played a lot of games it won’t be the physical side that catches up with them, it will be the mental side.”

“It can sometimes be draining, playing so many games without a break. However, they’ll both physically be as fit and ready to go as any other player," he added.

Mohammad Salah is currently in a race to be fit for his side's trip to Old Trafford next weekend, after suffering an ankle injury against Leicester. Liverpool will take on a struggling Manchester United on the 20th of October.
