The 32-year-old striker is on an eight-game scoring streak.
Leicester City swept aside Aston Villa 4-1 at the Villa Park last weekend where Jamie Vardy scored a brace, whereas Kelechi Iheanacho and Jonny Evans added up goals to complete a proper rout and continue the Foxes’ brilliant run in the Premier League. Vardy reflected on the game and praised certain change of tactics that helped Leicester tackle a tricky Aston Villa side. He said, “It was a really good performance. We changed tactics and went into a diamond for the first time. I think you can see from the work that we’ve done on the training field we’ve taken it straight into the game and dominated." Obviously, we’ll then see where we finish at the end of the season. Then, that will give us something to progress on.” Vardy is Premier League’s highest goal-scorer so far this season as he has netted 16 goals until now. He is ahead of the second-placed Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang by a fair margin as the Gabon international has bagged only 11 goals as of now. In addition to Leicester's incredible form this season, Vardy has played a pivotal role with his goal-scoring exploits but personal records do not seem to matter much for him in the larger context. He said to LCFC, “I’m obviously over the moon. But first and foremost, the points are for Leicester. With regards to the performance from the boys, everyone put 100 per cent in and we’ve come out as deserved winners.” The Foxes have won 12 matches out of the 16 played in the Premier League this season, and have notched 38 points in the process. They have lost and drawn twice and are eight points behind the league leaders Liverpool who have accumulated 46 points and are yet to lose a game this season. More importantly for Leicester, they are well ahead of Manchester City, the two-time defending champions who are currently placed in the third spot with 32 points from 16 matches. This time though, Liverpool have been peerless but historically the Reds’ tend to lose their form in the second half of the season and hence Brendan Rodgers’ men would be hoping for that so that they can capitalize on such a situation going ahead in this campaign.Latest News
